The department that handles international student housing is called ‘Short Stay’. Short Stay provides rooms and apartments in Rotterdam for international students of the university, who are looking for furnished rooms for a maximum period of 12 months. This manual will inform you how to reserve accommodation via SSH. Important! Registering for accommodation is possible as of 1 April. Mediation for accommodation, as well as cancelling your reservation for accommodation, is subject to strict ‘Terms & Conditions’, so please read them carefully. You will find the Terms & Conditions on: www.sshxl.nl/shortstay At SSH students can only rent for a period of 4 - 6 months (exchange students) or 12 months (master students). If you decide, for some unforeseen circumstances, to quit studying earlier, you'll have to keep paying for your room until the rental period is over. Step 1: First you should register yourself through the online reservation system of SSH: go to www.sshxl.nl/shortstay > click the tab ‘Register’. fill out your details in the reservation system and follow further instructions. Please, take note that Exchange students can only rent for a period of 4 - 6 months: 1 February 2015 - 31 May 2015; or 1 February 2015 - 30 June 2015; or 1 February 2015 - 31 July 2015 Master students can only rent for a period of 12 months: 15 August 2014 - 14 August 2015; or 1 September 2014 - 30 August 2015 (not 31 August!) After you have registered, the contact person will automatically receive an e-mail in which she will be requested to approve your registration. As soon as your registration has been approved, you will automatically receive an email. Step 4: After you have received the email that approves your registration, you can log-on to the website and choose the room you want to live in. First you will have to agree with the ‘Terms & conditions’ (please read them carefully); then the website will show a selection of vacant rooms that matches your preferences. If at that moment no room is available that matches your preference, you should contact SSH at [email protected] and you will be put on a waiting list. In that case a member of the Short Stay team will match you to a room if and when a suitable room will be available. If you will be matched, you will receive a proposal by email. Step 5: When your reservation is definite you will receive an email that confirms the reservation.
