HOW TO REACH HASSELT UNIVERSITY,
CAMPUS DIEPENBEEK
BY PLANE
TO BRUSSELS AIRPORT





It is recommended to fly to Brussels National Airport, also called Zaventem (airline code
BRU).
In the arrival hall, take the elevator (to the right, in front of you) to level -1 where the
train station is located. Ask for more information on trains to Hasselt, check BY TRAIN
below or check the timetable online (www.belgianrail.be).
Trains to Hasselt run twice per hour. Travel time is about 80 minutes.
There is no direct train connection to Hasselt. Depending on the connection, you will
have to transfer once or twice, usually in Leuven.
Please also make sure you are in the right compartment. Trains often split in Landen
(third stop from Brussels North), only the front part goes to Hasselt.
TO BRUSSELS-SOUTH CHARLEROI AIRPORT



Some low-cost airline companies fly to Brussels-South Charlerloi Airport, located about
60 km from the heart of Brussels (airline code CRL).
Every hour a shuttle coach leaves the airport to the main Brussels railway station
(Brussels South). The shuttle coach stop is located at the crossing of Rue de France and

Once arrived in Brussels-South, take the train to Hasselt.
TO LIÈGE AIRPORT



Some low-cost airline companies also fly to Liège Airport, located about 45 km from
Hasselt University (airline code LGG).
From Liège Guillemin railway station, you can take the train to Hasselt railway station.

The train ride from Liège Guillemins to Hasselt takes about 1 hour.

BY TRAIN
FROM BRUSSELS






Take the train to direction Antwerp.
This is a direct train that runs every hour and arrives in Hasselt after approximately 60
minutes.
FROM ANTWERP CENTRAL STATION


Trains to Hasselt run three times per hour.
Travel time depends strongly on which transfer you choose and takes between 70 and
100 minutes.

BY BUS
FROM HASSELT RAILWAY STATION TO CAMPUS DIEPENBEEK (AND BACK)




The bus for Campus Diepenbeek leaves at Platform 6 in front of Hasselt Railway Station
(as well as various bus stops in the Hasselt city centre).
From Hasselt Railway Station, buses to Campus Diepenbeek (lines 45 or 36, direction
Genk) leave every 15 minutes (between 6h10 and 20h10).
The ride to Campus Diepenbeek takes about 15 minutes (after various bus stops in the
Hasselt city centre). Get off at the 2nd stop on Campus (in front of building D).
To return to the City Centre, again take line 45 or 36, direction Hasselt.

BY CAR
FROM BRUSSELS






On the R0 (ring around Brussels), take the exit Leuven/Liège to highway E40.
Follow the direction of Leuven and take exit Leuven/Hasselt/Genk to highway E314 in
the direction of Aachen/Aken.
Near Lummen take the E313 in the direction of Hasselt.
Take Exit 28 (Hasselt-Zuid).
When leaving the E313 at Exit 28, turn left in the direction of Hasselt and drive for about
100 metres. At the second traffic light, turn right and keep following this road until the
fifth traffic light, then turn right again (direction Genk).
This road is the "Universiteitslaan". Two kilometres down this road you will find Hasselt
University, Campus Diepenbeek on your right hand side.
FROM LIÈGE




Take the E313 in the direction of Antwerp.
Take Exit 28 (Hasselt-Zuid).
When leaving the E313 at Exit 28, turn left in the direction of Hasselt and drive for about
100 metres. At the second traffic light, turn right and keep following this road until the
fifth traffic light, then turn right again (direction Genk).
This road is the "Universiteitslaan". Two kilometres down this road you will find Hasselt
University, Campus Diepenbeek on your right hand side.
FROM GERMANY




Take the E314 in the direction of Antwerp.
Take Exit 31 (Genk-Centrum).
Follow the N76 approximately seven kilometres until after you crossed the Albert canal.
Then turn right at the traffic lights into the direction of Hasselt (= N702).
After 5 kilometres, turn left at the traffic lights.
