How to reach University of Hyderabad? University of Hyderabad is located in Gachibowli on the Old Mumbai Road, Hyderabad. It is about 35 kms from the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (Shamshabad Airport) and about 25 kms from Hyderabad railway station and 30 kms from Secunderabad railway station. Participants coming by air may take an authorized metered taxi (Meru or Skycabs) available at the ground (parking) level, one level below the Arrivals at the airport. Please come out of the exit gate and then take the escalator or the walking ramp. Follow the sign “Radio Taxi”, instead of being lured by the sales pitch of “Prepaid Taxi”. You get into any taxi lined up on either side (adjacent to the food court). Please tell the cab driver to take you to the Hyderabad Central University at Gachibowli. (UoH is popularly known as Central University, to disntinguish from Osmania University which is in the opposite side of the City. In case of doubt, please tell the driver that it is two kilometers ahead of Gachi Bowli Stadium.) These cabs charge Rs.18 per km and an additional 25% night charges (11 pm to 5 am). These cabs are post-paid, i.e., you need to pay only when you complete your travel and you get an instant receipt from the cab driver. These cabs are safe, comfortable and cost relatively low as compared to pre-paid taxi services. From the airport it takes about 45 minutes to reach the University Campus. There are two gates to the UoH. Please do not enter through the first one, popularly known as the small gate. The second one, popularly known as the Main Gate, has a big sign, University of Hyderabad, which you cannot miss. The security staff at the Main Gate will guide you to your guesthouse. The main guesthouse of the University, known as Lakeview Guesthouse, is about one kilometer from the main gate. Some participants may be housed at the Tagore International House, which is about four kilometers from the Main Gate. After you exit the Outer Ring Road you come on to the Mumbai Road. From there the University is about four kms (from the IIIT/International Sports Stadium) on your left. As you enter the Main Gate of the University, please proceed straight for about a km and soon you come to a round where you will find the University Guest House at the corner (near the Post Office). Those arriving at one of the Railway stations of the city may please book a cab by Meru cabs (040-44224422) or Skycabs (040-49494949) from the railway station to Gachibowli. These cab services will provide a cab within half an hour of booking. Please tell the cab driver to take you to the Hyderabad Central University at Gachibowli. Your accommodation has been booked in the University Guest House (Lakeview Guest House) or Tagore International Hostel located in the southern part of the Campus.
