Some suggestions on: How to correctly preserve a heating system According to UNI-CTI 8065/89, BS 7593/92, UNI-CTI 8364, UNI-CTI 8884/88 On all components of NEW SYSTEMS only: 1) Before filling a system, always wash it until water is perfectly clean, or better, pickle it, i.e. remove oxides from metals and machining waste (oil, shavings, etc.) using FERRONEX. 2) Protect the system against CORROSION according to the table hereunder: a) ATIGEL min. 30% Vol. feeding water hardness should not exceed 15 °f System protected. Periodically control the antifreeze density and replenish it, if necessary. Check the system corrosion degree at least once a year. Replenish the regenerating corrosion inhibitor every 2/3 years, ANTIRUST. b) ATIGEL 20-25 % Vol. System insufficiently protected, add some FILMAX product. c) ABSENCE OF ATIGEL System not protected against corrosion. Add FILMAX product (to inhibit it). On OLD SYSTEMS: 1) On old systems (also if partially: e.g. new boiler, old pipes), all the more reason carry out pickling, i.e. the cleaning from oxides and the removal of any existing slush; the following treatment is suggested: For mud ANTINEX with THERMAKIL® (biocide) For rust or inchoerent black oxide ZINCONEX-Al After antifreeze use (3-5 years), reinstate the corrosion inhibitor Antirust and verify the antifreeze density. For algae and bacteria (e.g. boiler expansion tank minding, floor systems) use THERMOKIL®. Afterwards protect the system against corrosion according to case a), b) or c). If any Aluminium is present, make sure you are working within a pH range of 7 to 8.5. If the system is not protected, some corrosion phenomena may occur outside this range. In open cup systems or in radiant floors it is advised to prevent algae and bacteria formation by using an ALGAE PREVENTER. In systems constantly fed with hard water, treat delivery water with a suitable dose of polyphosphates or softeners according to UNI CTI 8065. It is recommended NOT to mix FACOT products with other products or different brands together without previously seeking the customer service’s advice.
