How to Measure an Inside Mount Window

Our shutters are supplied with a custom built frame.
INSIDE MOUNT refers to the direction that the fixing holes are predrilled in the
shutter frame. Therefore if you have a recess wall or a reveal which is deep enough
to accommodate our shutter frames you can choose to fit your shutters as an INSIDE
MOUNT INSTALLATION
• USE A STEEL TAPE MEASURE
• Measure inside recess from left side to right side. Take the width at 3 different locations
across the window and give us the SMALLEST width.
• Measure inside recess from top to bottom. Take the height at 3 different locations
along the window and give us the SMALLEST drop.
• If there are tiles which will reduce the overall width inside the recess you should
measure within this area ( the smallest width in the recess). We can supply matching
trim with your order should you need to cover any visible gaps you may have above
the tiles.
• We recommend we make a small deduction (-2 mm) to the smallest width and the
smallest drop you supply. This will allow some ease when fitting the frame. We DO
NOT make this deduction as standard, you will be asked to agree to it.
• If the side walls of the recess are splayed at an angle we can supply matching trim to allow
you to obtain a seamless installation from wall to wall. (Widest trim we carry is 50mm)
• If you have an inward opening window or door you will need to consider the space you
have around the window to allow for our frame to sit without restricting the window
movement.

L frame – suitable for all slat sizes. Situate frame inside recess to position you desire,
pulling forward of the window sufficient for slats to tilt and not hit the window.

Inside Mount BULLNOSE Z frame DPZ 38
Z frame with INSIDE MOUNT FIXING HOLES... Suitable for a slat size of 47mm, 64mm or
89mm, 114mm (you must have additional clearance space in the recess to allow 64mm,
89mm, 114mm slats to tilt)

We offer our “Z” frame for Inside Mount shutters fitting inside the front of the recess.
This frame is a semi recessed frame. The frame will mount inside the recess at the front
of the opening The molded “Z” edge gives a beautiful finished look to the installation
and also allows the panels to fold back 180 degrees to sit back on the wall either side of
window.

How To Measure An Inside Mount
1. Measure width x drop as per RED lines
2. For a midrail position, measure from bottom up to GREEN line. We will centre our
dividing midrail at this point.
3. For cafe (half height) or tier on tier (double hung) shutters, measure from bottom up
to the BLUE line for the finish height of the lower panel.
NOTE: Inserting a midrail in a panel can offer flexibility on how you tilt the slats. A
midrail can cover a handle or rail on your window or door. A midrail will offer greater
strength and stability to taller shutter panels.

Checking for Obstructions
Before measuring, look for any obstructions on the window. You need to make
sure that you avoid the possibility of the slats tilting open and hitting any
obstacles such as handles or a telephone junction box.
If ordering shutters for an inside mount with an L frame, there is one frame
available. You should locate the frame at a position inside the recess where the
slats will not hit the window or obstructions.
The drawings below show how far beyond the rear of the L frame, the slats will
protrude.
