Welcome
Similar to the previous symposia we will this year have a very strong session
on research with presentation of recent advances. In contrast to the past, the
symposium will be introduced by a session where surgeons present optimal results
of peripheral nerve and brachial plexus repair. This is not to glorify themselves but
to show what at least theoretically should be possible to achieve and to articulate
what they would like to get as far as improvement is concerned. Special attention
is paid to include cerebral plasticity into consideration. At the end a vivid discussion
between research and clinic should result.
The second important topic will be dedicated to the important role of connective
tissues in general and fascial tissue in special as it attracts more and more interest in
recent years. Of course an interesting free paper session is included.
Our team hopes that all participants will enjoy their stay in Vienna. We will anyway
try our best.

Palais Palffy: The house was first mentioned in the 14th century archive files. In the 15th century the Palais was owned by Count Paul
Eberhard Palffy von Erdöd and remained property of the Palffy family until the end of the 19th century. In the second half of the 19th
century, the palace was renovated along with the historical middle facade. The house was rebuilt after being damaged during World
War II, and today is one of the most beautiful palaces in Vienna. A remarkable date for the culture and history was October 16th, 1762
when Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart gave a concert in the Figaro-Saal, together with his sister Nannerl.
