Piemonte shows rooted tradition in all basic fields and
industrial applications both for mechatronics and
advanced production systems (mechanics, electrical and
electronic engineering, ICT) and has developed excellent
integration competences, often creating entire industrial
supply chains (from product/process development
procedures to manufacturing of specific mechatronics
components and systems).
In recent years, evolution of mechanics and related sectors
determined a strong push to manufacturing wide range
diversification, trying to follow or anticipate extremely
variable markets and demand pull by means of adaptive
and flexible industrial solutions.
In the last decades Piemonte has developed high level
competences extremely diversified, which are often the
basis for world class excellences in specific sectors or highly
skilled niches.

par. 2.2 (m):
“Innovation clusters means
groupings of independent
undertakings - innovative
start-ups, small, medium
and large undertakings as
well as research organisations - operating in a particular sector and region and
designed to stimulate innovative activity by promoting
intensive interactions, sharing of facilities and exchange
of knowledge and expertise
and by contributing effectively to technology transfer,
networking and information
dissemination among the
undertakings in the cluster”.

IP Management
Proper mix between “Bottom-up” and “Top down”: members’ needs are the starting
point. The projects are proposed by firms, but they are coherent with the framework
defined by Mesap. Projects generation is strongly supported by a series of original methods
and tools, which also enable Partners aggregation.

Collaborative: every Mesap project is collaborative. Each project involves different kind of
participant: SME, large firms, University/Research Center. Average dimension is about 5
participants for each project.
Source MESAP - ICM International
50/50 funding: projects’ funding is equally split between private and public entities. 50%
of the project is founded by Regione Piemonte while the other 50% is divided into
participants (in different proportion).
