By Road
Once on roads close to Ptuj follow signs for Terme Ptuj
or ejc2005 signs.
From Graz, Austria, follow E59 south to Slovenian
border; continue to Maribor and then turn east still on
E59. From Ljubljana E57 northeast to Slovenska
Bistrica North, there turn east on national road 2 to Ptuj.
From Zagreb take road 1 (E59) north, follow signs to
Maribor. Some motorways sections charge tolls.

What is the European Juggling Convention?
The biggest annual meeting of Jugglers in the world. It also
involves acrobats, unicyclists, aerialists, musicians,
performers and other practitioners of the circus and
theatrical arts. This year we go for an adventure in
Slovenia!
What’s happening this year?
There will be big tops and marquees on-site for 24-hour
juggling. There’s one (size: 40mx20m) gym hall, open
everyday, 5 mins. walk from the town centre. There will be
Big Tops with stages on-site. We hope to see more shows
for smaller audiences. Performers will have the chance to
play more than once so you’ll get the chance to see, and do,
shows close-up. Remember: we’ll provide the spaces so
you can fill them with creativity! There will be stages in the
town centre, a show at the castle and as many events as we
can fit into the time and the town.
Every EJC is different and we hope to inspire you with
several different places to play, learn and juggle in 2005.

Some stuff about Ptuj
Ptuj is the oldest town in Slovenia and one of the oldest
settlements in Europe dating back beyond the Stone Age.
Museums, churches, vast wine cellars, a golf course, bars,
cafes and a castle with views over the surrounding
vineyards and the great Drava river. Slovenia is a great
place for a holiday.
The currency of Slovenia is the Tolar (SIT) Euro (€) can be
used in a few places. Credit cards work. There are Cash
machines (ATM). Slovenia is in the EU.
Poolside action!
Next to the Convention Site stands the Terme Ptuj – big
outdoor pools, huge slides, indoor pools, saunas, bars,
restaurant, tree shaded grass, an outdoor Amphitheatre,
showers and lockers. Open daily 9am – 10pm.
We have a discount price for the Terme: Adult 1100 sit,
Child 550 sit. (4.6€/2.3€) That’s half-price folks! And
there’s no particular kind of swimming costume you are
obliged to wear this year.
Other Places to Stay
At the Terme is the Tourist Camping, a three-star facility.
If you want to camp there you can get special rates - Adult:
10€ per night, youth 6€, kids 3€ (plus 1€ tourist tax and
insurance per day pp) This also gives you two entrances to

There are bungalows and apartments to rent at this
location too. Jugglers’ prices are 20% reduction on 2004
prices! To get all discounts just pre-reg. and use your
pre-reg. code when you book at the Terme. Details to

Sunday 14th August 2005
12 noon: 28th EJC officially opens. We open on
Sunday to give you time to travel to us on Friday
and Saturday; for those of you working, the EJC2005
takes only 1 week of your valuable holiday time.
Monday 15th August
Parade day! Yes, so soon! The 15th is a religious
holiday (Assumption of the Virgin Mary). The Terme
expect thousands to go swimming that day and the
town has pilgrims and religious events. THE special
event though, is our parade through town. The City is
promoting it as a major happening and hope to get
thousands of extra visitors to watch us!
Costumes mean Prizes!
Throughout the week
We haven’t made a definite programme yet but some
features include: Fire Show, Volley Club Tournament,
Cabaret Stages, Experimental Stages, Shows in the
Terme’s brand new Amphitheatre (700 seats, outdoor)
The Games will probably be on Friday19th.

Sunday 21st
Cleaning up and leaving the site! You can stay
nearby by renting space at the tourist camping Ptuj.

organised by jugglers for jugglers. Please help by
volunteering to participate: offer a workshop, do badge
control, collect rubbish, perform, steward the Parade,
work as tech crew – there’s plenty of jobs to be done.
