How to Upgrade from ZWCAD to ZWCAD+
This is a guide to help you upgrade your ZWCAD from any former version to ZWCAD+ 2012.
Please find the section right for you in terms of your current authorization type:
 Upgrade with Soft-Key Authorization

Notice:
 To upgrade your program, you need to install ZWCAD+ 2012 on your device, there is
no update patch to upgrade ZWCAD directly to ZWCAD+. For network users, you
need to install the new Network License Manager.
 For Soft-key users, you need to return the old soft-key license first, otherwise the
upgraded new soft-key will be displayed as invalid. Only one of these two licenses can
be accepted by ZWSOFT License Center at one time.
 As long as ZWCAD+ 2012 is activated, the former versions of ZWCAD installed on the
same device will be automatically activated without taking up any extra licenses.

Important:
For soft-key users, you have to return the old soft-key license before activating ZWCAD+ with
the upgraded new license.
Softkey - Standalone License

Procedure:
1. Provide the reseller with the soft-key (license code) of your former ZWCAD (referred to
as oldKey).
2. Obtain the new soft-key (license code) for ZWCAD+ 2012. (referred to as newKey)
3. Return the oldKey to validate the newKey:

Launch the ZWCAD+ License Manager from the Windows Start Menu
Click Return button > Online Return > OK

4. Use the newKey to activate ZWCAD+ 2012 referring to the Quick Start Guide.
Softkey - Network License

Procedure:
1. Provide the reseller with the soft-key(license code) of your former ZWCAD (referred to
as oldKey).
2. Obtain the new soft-key(license code) for ZWCAD+ 2012. (referred to as newKey)
3. Return the oldKey to validate the newKey :
a) Launch the ZWCAD+ Network License Manager from the Windows Start Menu
b) Click Return > Online Return > OK
PS: if the internet is unavailable, please refer to “2.5 Network License Return” of
ZWCAD+ 2012 Quick Start Guide
4. At Server : upgrade the Network License Manager program, activate and configure it:
a)
Make sure you’ve returned the old soft-key before uninstalling
b)
Uninstall the former version of ZWCAD Network License Manager.
c)
Install the ZWCAD+ 2012 Network License Manager (you can find it on the CD).
d)
Use the newKey to activate and configure the ZWCAD+ 2012 Network License
Manager referring to the Quick Start Guide.
5. At Client : Install ZWCAD+2012, and get floating license(or borrow license) from the
server
Upgrade with Dongle Authorization

Important:
 The hardware dongle applies to all versions of ZWCAD, you don’t need to change the
dongle to upgrade, but you need to obtain a new license code for it.
 We don’t provide network dongle for ZWCAD+, so former network dongle users have
to switch to soft-key authorization
 You need to send back the dongle hardware to the reseller, if you switch from dongle
to soft-key authorization
Dongle - Standalone License

There are two options available for dongle standalone users, you can keep the dongle and
continue to use it, or you can switch to soft-key license.
Keep the Dongle
Procedure:
1. Provide the reseller with the product ID of your dongle.
2. Obtain the 8 characters license code for ZWCAD+ 2012 from the reseller.
3. Install ZWCAD+2012
4. Use the original dongle and the new License code to activate ZWCAD+ 2012 referring
to the Quick Start Guide.
Switch from Dongle to Soft-key
Procedure:
1. Send the dongle to the reseller
2. Obtain a soft-key license code(24 characters) for ZWCAD+ 2012 from the reseller
3. Install ZWCAD+ 2012
4. Use the soft-key license code to activate ZWCAD+ 2012 referring to the Quick Start
Guide.
Dongle - Network License (Switch to Soft-key Only)

We don’t provide network dongle for ZWCAD+, so to upgrade from ZWCAD to ZWCAD+,
dongle network users have to switch the dongle to soft-key license.
Procedure:
1. Send your dongle to the reseller
2. Obtain the a soft-key license code(24 characters) for ZWCAD+ from the reseller
3. At Server: install the ZWCAD+ Network License Manager(you can find it in CD),
activate and configure it with the soft-key license code
4. At Client: install ZWCAD+ 2012, and get floating license(or borrow license) from
the server

1. How can I distinguish my authorization/License type(standalone or network)?

Dongle Authorization
You can distinguish a dongle version according
to the Dongle ID printed on the dongle body.
For example, the dongle on the right is for
standalone Pro version
The prefix “68” means it is for standalone version. Please check the prefix
number of your dongle ID, and distinguish them as below:
Standalone: 18, 28, 58, 68
Network: 20, 35, 50, 55

Soft-key Authorization
To check the soft-key type, you have to go to the ZWSOFT License Center, and
login with the license code. Below are some examples:

2. I want to upgrade from the Standard to Professional/Mechanical version
For soft-key users, all upgrading procedures are the same as the regular ones.
For dongle users, you need a new dongle, or switch to soft-key.
3. I want to add more copies to the current network license
Every dongle and soft-key has a fixed number of copies, we cannot add copies to the
original license. If you do want to change the number of nodes, please change the
dongle or soft-key.
4. How to check the soft-key status(free or activated)?
Go to the ZWSOFT License Center and login with the soft-key. From the “Manage
Entitlements” tab you can check how many copies are left. From the “Manage
License” tab, you can get the information of activated copies, such as fulfill date ect.
For example: this standalone license is in use, and has 0 copies left
