7:30pm. music. “Cynikal”
With his 2012 mixtape debut 'Breakfast' amassing critical acclaim
from the likes of SBTV and DJSemtex.com, performances at the
historic London Olympics and world-renowned Jazz Cafe, the
artist/producer Cynikal is ready to present the evolution of his
sound. Toby, the EP in question was released on 1st December
2013, and features an array of entirely self-produced works in the
spirit of Take Off, the taster record which acquired Cynikal the grandest of
support from BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra and a breathtaking filmed Maida Vale session
courtesy of the BBC Asian Network. Armed with his collective of live instrumentalists
The Street Orchestra, Cynikal has also graced stages at The Roundhouse, Isle of
Wight Festival and Lovebox. Recent reviews from international publications HYPETRAK and Indie Shuffle
have seen Cynikal’s increasing online presence flourish, whilst US media moguls Ryan Seacrest and
Karen Civil also listed Cynikal’s work on their respective websites, propelling the performance-producer
into global territories.

world's most infamous graffiti artists at work.

7th – 10th 7:30pm. Theatre. gilbert and Sullivan’s “The Pirates of Penzance”
Our big summer musical is an updated classic. A comic romp with a
wonderful score. Gilbert and Sullivan’s masterpiece was given a
vividly fresh approach on Broadway. This version has won rapturous
critical and public approval on both sides of the Atlantic. With a more
compact orchestration, up-dated production and the restoration of
the 1879 New York finale this version will win new audiences for a
great tradition. It is fast and furious and tremendous fun!
Grab your parrot and come along!
20th
6:30pm. Theatre. “Leyton’s got Talent”
Tonight is the final of our own version of the national talent show. Student
contenders will be singing and dancing and hoping to walk away a
winner! There is no record contract at stake sadly but a lot of effort and
pride and we hope you will come along and enjoy the fun and support
your favourites. It promises to be an exciting evening.
22nd
7:30pm. Theatre. “Spelling Bee” and “next to normal”
Spelling Bee/Next to Normal Double Bill. Second Year level 3 BTEC
Musical Theatre students final production in which they perform
excerpts from these Tony award winning Broadway musicals yet to be
performed in the West End. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling
Bee is a musical comedy which centers on a fictional spelling bee set
in an American Middle School. Six quirky adolescents compete in the
Bee, run by three equally-quirky grown-ups. Next to Normal is a
modern American rock musical drama. Its story concerns a mother
who struggles with worsening bipolar disorder and the effect that
her illness and the attempts to alleviate it have on her family.

mixture of covers and original songs to both the audience and a panel of
judges. Come along to decide for yourself who sounds best, and see if you
agree with the official decision!

Second year music students from the Music Performance, Production and
Business course present their Final MasterPiece, demonstrating all of their
musical skills and mastery in one final concert before they graduate.
The concert will mark the end of the two year course at the College for the
performers and both aims to celebrate their success and be a ‘thank you’
to all the people who have given them their support during their time here.
Be prepared to be entertained with stunning performances from a wide
range of pieces from across the contemporary music scene.
12th
5:30pm. media Annual oscar Awards night. Stratford Picturehouse.
Leyton Expressive Arts will hold its third annual Media Oscars event
at Stratford Picturehouse. This red carpet event, which is now a firm
favourite in the Leyton Season, is a celebration of the achievements of
A2 and BTEC Extended Diploma Media leavers. Students and their guests
are invited to dress to impress for the evening, making their grand
entrance on the red carpet. Guests will be treated to a showreel of
the best 2013/14 media work before nominations and winners are
announced for a range of categories. The event will include a reception

17th
7:00pm. Cinema. “harold and maude”. Dir: hal Ashby (15)
This film from 1971 has almost a cult following. Young, rich, and obsessed with
death, teenager Harold finds himself changed forever when he meets lively
septuagenarian Maude at a funeral. Dark and very funny the film is also moving
and ultimately life affirming. The film is ranked number 45 on the American Film
Institute's list of 100 Funniest Movies of all Time, and was selected for preservation
in the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress in 1997 for being "culturally,
historically, or aesthetically significant"
19th
7:30pm. music. “rising Stars”
A chance to see the current first year music students from the Music
Performance, Production and Business course perform for the last time
this year. This concert showcases some of the best student performances
developed since their last sell-out show: a ‘must see’ event devised
and rehearsed solely by Leyton Sixth Form College students.
