Keep the Alumni-Sponsored Scholarship Fund to say “THANKS” Share the IUJ Experience with the Next Generation The Alumni Nakayama Scholarship Fund “THANKS” Fund Fund-Raising Drive by the Alumni Association for an AlumniSponsored Scholarship Fund for new IUJ students in memory of IUJ’s Founding Father Dr. Sohei Nakayama (March 5, 1906 - November 19, 2005) The Alumni Nakayama Scholarship Fund “THANKS” Fund IUJ has influenced all of our lives thanks to Dr. Sohei Nakayama, the founder of our school: Friends we have made, the academic education we now benefit from, the awareness of diverse cultures, the self-reflection we undertook, & the international leadership skills we developed are a result of the IUJ experience that Dr. Nakayama created. His vision, to establish a graduate school for global leaders in the heartland of Japan, with diverse people studying together in English, was both risky and innovative. Now, 2,189 of us are living his dream. We were sent by companies and governments on full pay. We received generous scholarship support throughout our IUJ time. We understand how hard it is to attend IUJ without additional financial support. We developed strong relationships with faculty who shared their time willingly. We were encouraged to use each other to realize our own dreams. It is time we gave something back! The Executive Council of the IUJ Alumni Association launches this fundraising tribute to honor Nakayama-san. Through our tax deductible (in Japan) donations, a scholarship fund will be created to benefit the next generation of IUJ students. The initial aim will be to provide one scholarship every year to someone identified as having high potential to serve the global community while on campus and in his/her professional life. Please make a donation to IUJ through the Alumni Association for the creation of this exciting new scholarship. Recipients of the scholarship will be prioritized as: 1. Demonstration of high potential to succeed professionally using their MA or MBA or Ebiz degrees. 2. Willing to take a leadership role while on campus to promote international interaction among current students. 3. Offered to those motivated to contribute to one of the Platforms Programs recently introduced to the IUJ curriculum (see back panel). 4. Willing to keep in close touch with the Alumni Association after they graduate to keep us informed as to their professional development. Scholarship allocation takes the following steps: 1. Students will apply to IUJ indicating their interest and qualifications for The Alumni-Nakayama-Scholarship. 2. IUJ Admissions committees will review the applicants and nominate a qualified candidate for this scholarship. 3. The EC members will be informed of the selection of the scholar and open early communications with him/her. 4. Upon finalization of the enrollment procedures, all members of the Alumni Association will be notified who we are supporting that year. 5. Scholarship recipients will be required to share their profiles and IUJ experiences in the Alumni Newsletters while attending IUJ, and as their careers take off. Fund Requirements Our goal is to create a Fund with the financial resources to provide some kind of a scholarship to one student at a time. How valuable our scholarship award can be depends on how many donations come in and how much we are able to collect. Our hope is to provide the equivalent of an IUJ Type A scholarship. To provide an IUJ Type A scholarship, members of the Association will need to contribute an estimated 5.5 million yen a year. If we cannot reach this goal, partial scholarship packages will be offered (Type B, C or Z). The possibility of a work-study based scholarship, student loans and other measures will be explored. IUJ’s Tuition and Living costs are: Tuition MBA/MA 1,900,000 (per year) Tuition Ebiz 2,300,000 (once) Academic expenses 200,000 (10 months) Living Costs (Dorm and Meals) 804,000 (12 months) To support one student for the 21-month MBA or MA program a yearly total of 5,607,000 is required. To support one student for the 12-month E-biz program a total of 3,504,000 is required. Please make an initial donation, and prepare to donate annually!
