Thank you to everyone who voted for me at the recent Surrey County Council
elections, says RICHARD WALSH, and I pledge myself to work for all the residents
in Shepperton, Laleham, and Charlton Village, to make our area a better place to
live.
I now plan to continue the work on all the matters which concern people including, fighting the Watersplash gravel raising application, opposing the gasification
plant at the Eco Park, and improve the maintenance of the roads and pavements.
Having gone round nearly the whole of the division knocking on doors and canvassing Richard is
very aware that speeding lorries and inconsiderate parking are two major concern's which he will
be working on with the local police and the parking team.
Councillors Robert Watts, Robin Sider and Vivienne Leighton in the soon to open new Well-Being
Centre, a joint project between Surrey, Spelthorne and the 3rd Sector.
Spelthorne is also expanding the High Needs provision to provide
transport and additional activities so those with mobility difficulties
can now can come to the centre any day Monday - Friday.
Robin, Vivienne and Robert are using their community grant to fund
artwork for the walls. The pictures will be painted by local artists.
Cllr Leighton said, “We are delighted Spelthorne is again investing in
supporting frail, older and those less mobile in our community. This
is an active decision to support these residents as Boroughs are not responsible for providing
such services.”
This helps people who live in their own homes.
Congratulation Richard …….
Cllrs. Mary Madams and Richard Smith-Ainsley have been very
happy to support Richard in his re-election campaign, and are
delighted that he won.
Photographed in Laleham Park Mary said “We will be working
with Richard on many projects in the Laleham and Shepperton
Green ward where County and Borough collaboration is needed.
This includes measures to alleviate the flooding problems in
Laleham Village and the proposed Eco Park at Charlton Lane.”
Mary and Richard Smith-Ainsley will both be involved in the proposals for the regeneration of
Laleham Park. This historic park will be have to be sensitively improved without losing its character.

Draft EU referendum bill
David Cameron has said that if he is Prime Minister, there will be
an in-out referendum in the next Parliament.
And as the Prime Minister has said, in this Parliament we will look at
all options to underline the fact that our commitment to the
referendum is absolute.
That’s why the Conservative Party has published a draft bill to
legislate in this Parliament for an in-out referendum before the end
of 2017.
We will be working with James Wharton as he brings our draft bill
before Parliament as a private member’s bill.
We know there are MPs in other parties who also believe that the
British people should be given a choice on our country’s membership
of the EU, and so we urge them to back the bill.
But if other parties do not back it, people will be able to see that only
the Conservative Party is offering an in-out referendum and that the
two other mainstream parties, Labour and the Liberal Democrats,
oppose an in-out referendum.
