How to Upgrade the MGI2 Card MGI2 Cards MGI2 card is used in the OS100 & OS500 What you will need PC TFTP Server SW (CableTron TFTP/BootP Services recommended) Freeware or downloadable from the support website. Serial Cable (straight thru 9pin Dsub Male to 9pin Dsub Female) MGI2 SW on your PC Relevant phone system for MGI2 card Hyperterminal Crossover ethernet cable if connecting directly from PC to MGI2 card. There are two files to Upload Boot Image (xxxx.bin) • The boot image must be uploaded first if included in the SW package downloaded from the website, if it does not exist you do not need to upgrade the Boot Image. MGI Software (xxxx.ftp) Configure IP Address 1. Configure an IP address, GW & SN if not already done on the MGI2 Card • 2. 3. MMC 831 and restart card to accept new settings Confirm you can ping the MGI2 card from your PC Install and Run the CableTron TFTP/BootP Services program Configure TFTP/BootP Services Select BootP Server 5. Enter details below 4. Mac Address & IP address of MGI2 card found in MMC 831 You must insert “-” as above in Mac Address Select Select Upgrading The MGI2 Boot Image Select Browse and Browse to the MGI2 software on your PC 7. Select the xxxx.bin file and ok 6. Select Upgrading The MGI2 Boot Image 8. 9. Connect Serial cable between PC and MGI2 card Run Hyperterminal with settings below • • • • • 10. Bits Per Second: 19200 Data Bits: 8 Parity: None Stop Bits: 1 Flow Control: None Press & hold down the space bar on your PC and press the reset button on the front of the MGI2 card. The MGI2 card should stop booting and you will see the below screen. Upgrading The MGI2 Boot Image Enter “configflash netboot yes” and press enter 12. Enter “reset “ and press enter 11. The SW will now upload to the MGI2 card IP address of MGI2 card IP address of your PC File being uploaded If all is OK you will see “.” Upgrading The MGI2 Boot Image Once the file is successfully uploaded you will see: The MGI2 card will now boot up to the Login Screen 13. Login to the MGI2 card Login: mgi Password: mgi Upgrading The MGI2 Boot Image 14. Enter “co en” and press enter twice (you should see the IP address of the MGI2 card) 15. Enter “flashfs rewrite boot.bin” and press enter The bootfile upgrade is complete when you see the below screen & you can continue with the software upgrade Upgrading The MGI2 SW Select BootP Server 17. Enter details below 16. Mac Address & IP address of MGI2 card found in MMC 831 You must insert “-” as above in Mac Address Select Select Upgrading The MGI2 SW Select Browse and Browse to the MGI2 software on your PC 19. Select the xxxx.ftp file and ok 18. Select Upgrading The MGI2 SW 20. 21. Connect Serial cable between PC and MGI2 card Run Hyperterminal with settings below • • • • • 22. Bits Per Second: 19200 Data Bits: 8 Parity: None Stop Bits: 1 Flow Control: None Press & hold down the space bar on your PC and press the reset button on the front of the MGI2 card. The MGI2 card should stop booting and you will see the below screen. Upgrading The MGI2 SW Enter “configflash netboot yes” and press enter 24. Enter “reset “ and press enter 23. The SW will now upload to the MGI2 card IP address of MGI2 card IP address of your PC File being uploaded If all is OK you will see “.” Upgrading The MGI2 SW Once the file is successfully uploaded you will see: The MGI2 card will now boot up to the Login Screen 25. Login to the MGI2 card Login: mgi Password: mgi Upgrading The MGI2 SW 26. Enter “co en” and press enter twice (you should see the IP address of the MGI2 card) 27. Enter “flashfs update” and press enter The SW upgrade is complete when you see the below screen. Upgrading The MGI2 SW Press & hold down the space bar on your PC and press the reset button on the front of the MGI2 card. 29. Enter “configflash netboot no” and press enter 30. Enter “reset “ and press enter 28. Once the MGI card has booted back up confirm the SW level in MMC 727
