Open positions: Internship Opportunity – Public Affairs The public affairs intern is responsible for providing administrative public relations and internal communications support as part of a busy public affairs team. This individual will provide ongoing media relations and clerical support to the Public Affairs group by: Supporting communications initiatives that address drug abuse prevention and education for families Conducting research for various materials, including media kits, press releases, newsletters, etc. Utilizing interactive applications and websites to leverage PR opportunities Managing multiple projects with concurrent and tight deadlines Major Responsibilities Contribute copy to various organizational publications, including press releases, news blogs, etc. Respond to external requests from the community and manage a variety of community relations duties Monitor news pertinent to drugs/other issues relevant to the organization via web, TV and print Assemble and organize press kits Update email communications binder Manage competition/awards entries Provide overall administrative support to the public affairs group Qualifications The ideal candidate will be a currently-enrolled college student in the NYC area pursuing a degree in English, journalism, public relations, communications or a related field. In addition, the student must possess strong writing skills, the ability to multitask, able to work in an independent manner and also meet deadlines. Internship Opportunity – National Media The National Media team seeks an Intern to become part of a vibrant and enthusiastic team at The Partnership at Drugfree.org. The National Media team acts a champion for the organization: promoting our cause, the latest advertising campaigns and extensive resources for parents to secure donated media time and space. This is accomplished by a combination of attending networking events, in person meetings, cold calls, emails, and new business presentations as well as managing and growing all existing media relationships. The internship provides a great opportunity to work alongside individuals who are committed to mentoring and training a student in the process of transitioning into the work world.
