How to Use Your
AccuPerc® Digital Percometer
The AccuPerc® Digital Percometer is the easiest device ever invented to perform
uniform percolation tests. Four simple steps is all it takes for each Perfectly AccurateSM perc test. An AccuPerc® test is simple enough for entry-level employees
to do, but is so accurate it’s used by the most experienced professionals.
The AccuPerc® system measures RAW MPI. Your actual reported MPI will be
determined by multiplying the AccuPerc® MPI by the necessary correction factor
based on the actual diameter of your test hole.
1. Dig perc test hole. 6 inches (15cm) in diameter is recommended. Follow local
guidelines and technology requirements to determine test hole depth. Clear hole
bottom of all loose material. Gently place gravel in bottom of hole.
2. Place AccuPerc® Sensor on gravel bed. Add minimal additional gravel around
sensor to physically stabilize it in test hole.
3. Slowly fill pre-soaked test hole with water until AccuPerc® Controller display
resets to ‘00:00’. After a few minutes, as the water percolates into the soil, the
Controller will start to calculate the raw MPI of the soil below the test hole.
4. Read the raw MPI on the AccuPerc® Controller when the controller beeps and
the display stops. Your actual reported MPI will be determined by multiplying the
AccuPerc® MPI by the necessary correction factor based on the actual diameter
of your test hole. Repeat tests as necessary.
