Squash Australia Referee Training Courses are approved under the
Australian Sports Commission’s, National Officiating Accreditation
Scheme.
HOW TO BECOME A
SQUASH REFEREE
State Refereeing Associations periodically run rules
courses that will assist candidates through the entire
accreditation process, and provide the necessary


training and access to assessors. The Courses are to
start squash players on the road to becoming
accredited squash referees, and to help candidates pass
the Rules Theory Paper.
Courses are organised through State Refereeing
Associations, and there is a charge which may vary
between States.
A Course Presenter will take candidates through the
Paper, ensuring they have the correct rule reference
and answer for each question. The Courses may take

training courses available for accreditation of Doubles Referees and
Referee Assessors.
The Australian Theory Examination Paper is in 4
Sections, each of which requires a pass of at least
85%. If re-sits are necessary, candidates are only
required to re-sit the Section/s not passed. Questions
are not designed to ‘trick’ candidates but to assist
them with an understanding of the current rules.
