TODAY is Generosity Sunday - Each year we have two “Generosity
Sundays” where we delight in the generosity of our church family.
The extraordinarily large offering that is collected supports the
BVMC mission in an extraordinary way. Last year about 15% of our
budget was raised on these two Sundays alone. Looking at this
year’s budget, this amounts to just under $105,000.
God has provided us with all the resources we need to diligently
pursue our mission: to befriend all with the love of Christ, through
community, worship & service and to help new people feel included,
inspired & involved. Please take time to prepare your finances
prayerfully so that you’re able to give generously in accordance with
God’s blessings, and your affirmation for what God is doing here at
BVMC.
Sarasota Male Voice Festival TODAY @ 3pm and 6:30 pm - The
men's chorus, under the direction of Lloyd Kauffman, offers two
concerts this year. The Sommers Family String Ensemble will join the
chorus for several selections. Proceeds from the offering will go
toward Gator Camp. Come, and worship!
LUNCH with ROGER, March 7 @ 11:45am – Join Pastor Roger for
lunch on the 1st & 3rd Thursday each month at Der Dutchman at
11:45am. All are welcome. There is no program or agenda. Come.
Talk. Listen. Eat. Build relationships. Use a napkin. Don’t skip seats.
Wissman Family - Thursday, March 7 @ 7pm - Coming from Milford,
Nebraska, the Wissman Family will present a concert of
Christian/gospel music using a variety of instruments and vocal
arrangements. Their mission is to "share the hope and promise that's
found in the Lord Jesus Christ." An offering will be received.
Brunch NEXT SUNDAY – Plan now to stick around after the service next
week for another delicious brunch including breakfast casserole with
eggs, sausage, bacon, & hash browns as well as yogurt cups with granola
& fresh fruit & a variety of breakfast breads, PLENTY of breads. Brunch
service will begin at 9:15am and be offered until noon. Your generous
donations help BVMC families attend Sarasota Christian School.
3
Andrew Lapp in Concert - Sunday, March 10 @ 6pm - The Christian
Fine Arts Series is please to present Andrew Lapp in concert again.
Andrew will play a variety of classical and sacred pieces including
some of his own arrangements of favorite hymns. An offering will be
received.
Chuck Wagon Gang - Sunday, March 17 @ 6pm - This well-loved
gospel group will be at Bahia Vista once again. Invite your friends and
neighbors. An offering will be received.
Don’t forget! The Eggucation campaign continues through Easter.
Use the Orphans Know More envelope in the pew pocket and drop
your contribution in the offering. For more information about this
campaign and/or Orphans Know More, please visit their website at
www.OrphansKnowMore.com.
Women’s Tuesday Eve Bible Study - “The Velveteen Woman” will be
meeting every two weeks on Tuesday evenings in Module #3 from 78pm beginning March 5th. The study will be facilitated by Dawn Van
Beck and Patricia Pratt. No need to sign up, just come on out and join
us. Don’t forget to bring a friend.
Women’s Tuesday Morning Bible Study – It’s not too late to join.
“One Thousand Gifts” is a study which strives to find the meaning of
life and fully embrace the surprising truth from the final scenes of
Jesus’ earthly life. Study meets Tuesdays @ 9:30am in Room #9, and
is facilitated by Miriam Nauman and Julie Shank. Childcare provided.
Sign up at the Welcome Center.
DVD study of “The Invisible War” by Chip Ingram is starting in the
Faith Issues class. This study focuses on what every believer needs to
know about Satan, Demons, & Spiritual Warfare, & is based on
Ephesians 6:10-12. Join Faith Issues in Module #17 @ 9:30am and
strengthen your wisdom and yourself for the future.

If this is your first time here, be sure to meet Pastor Roger
at the Popcorn Stand in the courtyard following
today’s service. He’d love the chance to meet you.
Kayla Miller
Kayla Miller comes to us from
Nabinway, MI. The daughter of a
preacher/worship leader, Kayla has
grown up being involved in the
Mennonite church. During high school
Kayla was involved with music,
athletics, academics and children,
serving both at church and in the
elementary
school.
Upon
her
graduation, Kayla attended Cornerstone University and studied
elementary education. During this time her love for children
continued to grow as she served at Sabaoth Ministries, an
afterschool program for low-income, inner-city students ages 7-18.
For the past three summers, Kayla has worked at Little Eden Camp as
a counselor during kid’s camp and kitchen staff during family camp.
All these experiences have led Kayla here to BVMC and developed in
her a vision for the BVMC Children’s Ministry. She is very excited to
get the ball rolling and see what God has in store for the children
already here and the ones to come.
Next Sunday a short Congregational Meeting will be called to order
during our worship services. Pastor Roger Shenk and the Overseers
are enthusiastically recommending Kayla Miller as our new Children’s
Minister. This is a planned transition to allow current Children’s
Minister, Bonnie Telinger, to focus exclusively on her position as
Communications Director.
Please contact me directly
([email protected] or 941.376.5664) with any comments or
questions prior to this meeting.
Nancy I. Yoder, Overseer Chair
Everybody needs to do a little Spring Cleaning each year, don’t they?
BVMC needs some Spring Cleaning, too! It’s that time when you get
all the extra cleaning done, that there just isn’t enough time for
during routine cleanings. Won’t you spare a few hours to help?
Saturday, March 16th
8am
Now, you may say “EIGHT IN THE MORNING?!” But we’d be willing to
bet that you’ve met a friend for breakfast at 8am at least a time or
two this winter. :-) Light mid-morning refreshments will be served.
Project areas include:
 Sanctuary
 Song Racks
 Office
 Blinds
 Kitchen Walls
 Window Sills
 Pews
 Chairs
 Windows
 Library
 Kitchen Drawers & Shelves
 A/C Vents & Returns
Special thanks to Naomi Sebourn, Leona Yoder, and Cal Mills who
have already offered to coordinate specific areas.
Please take a moment to sign up at the Welcome Center so that we
can plan the projects for the day. Last year our participation was a
little low and we were not able to do all we had hoped to do. We
need men and women and all ages are welcome.
Come get dirty with us!
