How to do a 48-Hour Urine Collection
You have 2 bottles for your 48 hour urine sample collection. Once you have completed the
collection, please go to the hospital for a blood test, to drop off your two bottles, and to do
one more fasting urine test. Use this form to help you plan how to do this.
1 Your 48-hr collection will take
place over 3 days.
For your 3rd day, avoid the

end time, collect one last
time into the bottle and
then close the lid tightly.
Your urine collection for

Do not refrigerate.
Your end time for bottle #1 will now be

dates and times on the hospital form.

12 First, go to the Blood Center (room E2.45).
Bring the 2 bottles
and the hospital form
to the Royal Victoria hospital on the day that your
collection is complete.

Go to the Urology Center (room S6.41).
Give the nurse your 2 urine
bottles and the completed
hospital form.

you will be asked to
provide a fasting urine
sample.
