How to Design to Eurocode 2 (EC2) Fees: RM980 per pax Date: TBC Venue: TBC Course Description The Structural Eurocodes are a set of harmonised European standards for the design of buildings and civil engineering structures and were developed to improve structural safety and to increase the competitiveness of the construction sector. From 1 April 2010, all national standards of EU countries that conflict with the requirements of the Eurocodes will no longer be maintained, including BS8110. As many other non-European countries were adopting the British, German and French standards; it affects the industry globally especially in fast moving economies of Middle East/Asia and Africa. It is important for professionals in Malaysian public and private services not to be left out in order to stay competitive. This course is intended to give the basic knowledge in reinforced concrete design to Eurocode 2 (EC2) including benefits of Eurocodes. The main part of the course will focus on the contents of EC2 and design basis for bending, shear, serviceability limit states, and durability and detailing requirements. Design steps for basic structural elements such as beam, slab, column and foundation will be discussed. Hands-on exercise on the application of EC2 for those structural elements will be included.
