How to register with the Virtual Learning Centre at the North Western
Deanery
1. Go to the VLC by either clicking here or by opening your preferred browser and entering the
following address in the Navigation Toolbar:
This will take you to the homepage of the VLC which should look something like this:
2. Next, to register you must first click the link that says “login” in the top right hand corner:
This will take you to the login page of the VLC which should look something like the following.
Please go through the section ‘is this your first time here?’ on the right hand of the page and
click the button that says ‘create new account’.
3. On the page that follows, enter your username (For doctors, this must be your GMC
number) and choose a password that you will remember (click the ‘Unmask’ box to view the
password as you type). If you are not a doctor, please use your first initial and surname e.g.
j.bloggs
Next complete the ‘More details’ section of the form. Enter your email address firstly and
then again to confirm, complete the First name, Surname, City/town, Country fields and
select your ‘Grade of clinician’ and ‘Current specialty’ from the dropdown lists. If you don’t
find your Grade and specialty in the lists, please contact [email protected] with the
update request.
For security reasons, we use email addresses to identify whether you belong to a Trust
located in the North West, self-registrations are only accepted from valid Trust email

address bar of your web browser.

You must then click on the ‘Link to Site Policy Agreement’:
5. Read the Site Policy Agreement, which will open in a new tab. Click back to the original tab
and check the ‘I understand and agree checkbox’:
6. Once you have done this, click on ‘Create my new account’.
7. You will see the following:
Click on Continue and you will be taken back to the VLC homepage.
As the page above states, there will be an email in your inbox that will look similar to the
following:
To confirm your new account, just click on the web address and you will be instantly logged
in to the VLC using your new account.
8. You will see a list of all the courses on VLC homepage, click on the course ‘Moodle Features
Demo’ to know more about the e-learning platform:
9. Click on ‘Home’ to get back to the front page
You are now ready to start using the Virtual Learning Centre.
