1. Submit an Inquiry Form
Complete an Inquiry Form, which you can find on our website or we can send to you, to tell us about yourself and to let us know that you are interested in learning more about our school. When we hear from you, we can enroll you in our Admissions process and set up a Campus Visit and Tour as a next step. 2. Schedule a Campus Visit & Tour
We encourage each family and child to visit our school facility and speak with one of our staff members and administrators during a tour. This opportunity provides the family and child to acquire a first impression of our school and see our students in action. Tours and visits are scheduled after an initial Inquiry has been submitted or an application has been submitted. 3. Attend an Open House
A few days after we receive your Inquiry Form, we will email you information about how to RSVP for one of our optional Open Houses, held 1:00–4:00 p.m. on the following Sundays: December 2, 2012, January 13, 2013 & February 10, 2013. 4. Register for the SSAT
Applicants entering grades 6-‐8 are expected to register to take the SSAT some time between November 2012 and February 2013. www.ssat.org. Please ensure you report scores to Tahoe Expedition Academy. 5. Submit an Application
For PreK-‐3-‐5th Grades, the application must be submitted before a Shadow Day may be conducted. However, we realize that the Personal Statements may take additional time, so those responses can be submitted at a later date but before the Home Visit. Applicants in 6-‐9th Grades are required to submit the Personal Statement before the On-‐Campus Interview. Inspiring students and teachers to climb higher Ph.: 530.546.LAKE (5253) www.TahoeExpeditionAcademy.org
A non-‐refundable fee of $90 is required for each application. However, if paying the application causes financial strain, then you may be eligible for a fee waiver. Contact us @ (530) 546-‐LAKE (5253) or [email protected] if you would like to apply for a fee waiver or you have any questions about the application process. 6. Shadow Day (for students entering PreK-‐5th Grades)
The Shadow Day allows the child, family and school to determine whether or not there exists a good fit. By participating in a full day of classes, the child meets current students, teachers and administrators and gains a clear sense of the day in the life of a student at Tahoe Expedition Academy. A Shadow Day is required for all students entering PreKK 5th grades, can involve more than one school day and can be completed after Parts I, II & III of the application are submitted. 7. Apply for Scholarship and/or Financial Aid
Through the Parasol Foundation in Incline Village, NV, scholarships and financial aid are given for families who qualify. Interested families can contact the school or the Parasol Foundation directly for more information about the options available to you. 8. Home Visit (for students entering PreK-‐5th grades)
For students entering Pre-‐K-‐5th grades, the Co-‐Heads of School conduct a home visit at the family’s residence as the final piece of the admissions process. This opportunity provides parents and children to ask any lingering questions about Tahoe Expedition Academy, and it provides the school with insight into the family and the child’s world. Typically, these visits occur in the evenings during the year. 9. Interview (for students entering 6-8th grades)
An interview is a required part of the Tahoe Expedition Academy application process for students entering 6-8th grades. It consists of a one on one, 30-minute conversation on campus between the applicant and an admissions team or faculty member. When you have finished the necessary sections of the application, simply save this document as a PDF and send it digitally to us. You can also mail it or just drop it off in person.
