| Before launching your campaign
1. Plan Your Marketing

How are you getting the word out? Who is going to help you? What actions are you
going to take offline to help find contributors?
○ Draft a press release and create a media plan.
2. Put together your team
Find people who can help you with the campaign, teams of two or more people will typically
generate more funds campaign.
3. Prepare the buzz
Be smart. Use social networks and other networks. You have Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn,
Blogs, emails, etc.. Any media tool is an additional network for you to use to get your idea out
and reach your audiences.
Effective ways of communication that we recommend:

☐ Set up Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other Social Media accounts.
☐ Sign-up for HootSuite to help broadcast and schedule updates across all your social
media platforms to save you time.
☐ Search for and follow other Twitter users who have interest in your topic area. Many
will follow you back and you can twitter updates about your project.
☐ Make a Facebook page for your campaign.
☐ Create a movement using “Hashtag” make it special or use popular and trending
hashtags to

B. Emails
☐ Prepare your email list. Add friends, family, potential customers, influencers, groups
who have an audience that might be interested in your story, and everyone you
know.
☐ Identify and develop a list of relevant targeted media outlets that love to support
your idea– local and other newspapers, online publications, blogs
☐ Create a spreadsheet with all media info – name of publication, contact, email, tel,
lead time
☐ Create an exciting email signature that links to your project social networks.
C. Inner network

your campaign.
☐ Invite 5-10 friends over to review your campaign while it is still in draft mode.

favorited your campaign.
☐ Add new perks throughout your campaign. making them more effective as your
community grows.
☐ Post about campaign progress (50% to goal!), new media, anything your audience
might be interested in. The middle of the campaign is where contributions slow
down. Use updates and new perks to combat this drag.
2. Thank your contributors
