Holiday Party

FAA Website: www.fallbrookartassn.org
Warmest Holiday Greetings!
Congratulations
to Karen Walkup,
our Show Chairman, for putting on
another impressive
Open Juried Show!
Ka ren and her
Committee Chairs
worked so hard and
what fine work
they all did. The Receiving Day Committee received
and processed a record 340 entries! The Judging
Committee worked hard all day with the two judges
to jury those wonderful entries down to 180 for the
show … what a difficult job that was! The placement, hanging and lighting committees did their
magic and the show opened with a sparkling reception attended by hundreds of art lovers from all
around the region. Congratulations to you all …. we
are so proud.
Rachel Hassan, the winner of the Best of Show
Award, is an artist from Laguna Woods, California.
She came all that way to attend the reception and met
many of us. She sent a lovely thank you note and
complimented us on the beautiful show and thanked
us for our warm welcome. Her drive home after the
reception was quite harrowing and she thought she
might become known as “the artist who died to get
best of show!” Great since of humor from a very talented lady.
Details on our holiday pot luck party can be found
elsewhere in this newsletter and I hope you all will attend on December 12th. We will have live holiday
music and the popular gift exchange.
Our meetings move to Saturday afternoons for
the months of January, February and March. Eat ‘n
Critique will begin at 11:30 and the program will begin at one in the afternoon.
Happy Holidays Everyone!

What Is “Plein Air”
Painting?
Do you know? Please send your definition of
“plein air” painting. Let us know if you want to be on
the Plein Air Painting Definition Committee where
we will consider all of the submitted definitions. The
Committee will write one definition that can be used
by the Receiving Day Chairman as a guideline when
accepting plein air paintings in future FAA shows.
Make it as brief as possible and send it before January
30th to FAA, Plein Air Painting Definition, P. O. Box
382, Fallbrook, CA 92028.

In January, the meetings switch to Saturday afternoons and continue to be on
