What is New in Paladin DesignBase 4.0 Power Analytics Corporation 16870 West Bernardo Drive, Suite 330 San Diego, CA 92127 U.S.A. © Copyright 2011 All Rights Reserved Dear Power Analytics customer: Thank you for selecting Paladin DesignBase and joining some of the world’s largest and most demanding mission-critical facilities – including FAA installations, off-shore oil platforms, and data centers operated by Visa, Bank of America, eBay, and other premier customers – who rely on Paladin DesignBase to support their live operations. Recent releases of Paladin DesignBase incrementally addressed customer requirements in three primary areas: 1. Maximizing power systems designers’ personal productivity and ease-of-use; 2. Increasing capabilities for team-based design and overall project throughout; and 3. Simplifying data management functionality between both DesignBase and third-party programs… especially in terms of allowing models to precisely encapsulate the robust data required for on-line facility management, using Paladin Live. With Paladin DesignBase 4.0 we’ve continued this overall development direction, while introducing industry-leading new capabilities in exciting areas, including: 1. The most comprehensive modeling tools for projects incorporating alternative energy components like photovoltaics (PV), wind, co-generation, and other sources… developed by virtue of our Paladin SmartGrid work with the Department of Energy, Boeing, and UC San Diego. 2. The ability to create complex power network models of virtually unlimited size… removing the arbitrary caps (e.g. a 12,000 bus limit) of competitive modeling platforms. DesignBase models are logically associated over multiple drawings but they are all interconnected, so analysis programs work across them regardless of size. 3. Sweeping, user-suggested enhancements to our Protective Device Coordination (PDC) and Harmonics programs, as well as enhanced catalog, library, and reporting capabilities throughout the DesignBase family. The evolution towards Paladin DesignBase 4.0 represents millions of dollars and man-years of development effort… not only by our on-staff development team, but by users like you, who provide us with valuable guidance on new features and functions. We thank you for your continued business, and for making Paladin DesignBase the most effective, productive modeling platform in the mission-critical arena. 1 Modeling of Photovoltaic (PV) Devices As part of the research for DOE Grant DE-FOA-0000085, Area 1, the following was created: • New Graphical symbol • New power flow model for PV devices.
