Sacramento United Soccer Club Competitive Soccer at its best!
Why Sac United?
Sacramento United Soccer Club represents youth
soccer at the highest possible level, bringing together
talented and committed players with highly qualified
coaches and trainers. Our goals include building
character and instilling positive values in our players
through hard work, responsibility and mutual respect
that promotes teamwork as well as a lifelong love and
understanding of the ‘beautiful game’.
A True “Club” Experience
One Club, One Love is our club philosophy, so along
with team training, players will experience a specialized
club wide training system that includes positional
training and team camps which brings all our players
together to train as a club. We also promote a club
wide system of play that is used by all of our coaches.
2009 Curriculum
Technical Director Shawn Blakeman oversees this
curriculum with specific components of training for each
age group, team formation and coach performance. The
training includes: Team Practice, Positional Training,
Summer Team Camp, and Winter Skills Camp. The age
of players ranges from U6 to U21, divided into three
groups: Academy (U6-U8); Program (U9-U11); and Teams
(U12-U21).
David Rubio is Academy Director. Trey Stoddard is
Program Director. As Assistant Director, Jason Drury will
assist in implementation of the curriculum for Teams.
U6 - U8 Academy
The U6-U8 Academy will train February through
November, with an internal 4x4 playing league in the
fall. Players will learn skills and play short-sided games.
Academy Director Dave Rubio will be assisted by our U17U18 player volunteers and U21 college players, who will
ensure a great time for all!
U9 - U11 Program
The U9-U11 Program will train March through November,
with traveling 8x8 play days and league in the spring
and a local 8x8 league in the fall. They will also be
participating in our Octo-Boo Fest tournament and the
U11s will be a part of our Invitational tournament.
U12 - U13 Teams
The U12-U13 Teams will train March through December,
with a traveling league in the spring and a local league in
the fall. Both the boys and the girls will be participating in
our annual Suntan Classic tournament in August.
U14 Teams
The U14 Teams will train for April through March, with a
traveling league in the spring and local leagues in the
fall and the winter. They will also be a part of our Suntan
Classic tournament this year.
U15-U18 Boys Teams
The U15-U18 Boys Teams will train April through August
and December through February, and play in a local
league in the winter. The U15B-U16B will also play in a
traveling league in the spring as well as participating in our
Suntan Classic tournament this year.
U15-U18 Girls Teams
The U15G-U18G Teams will train April through March and
play in a local league in the fall. The U15G-U16G will also
play in a traveling league in the spring. The U17G-U18G
Teams will play in a local league in the fall. All will be
participating in the Suntan Classic tournament.
U21 Teams
The U21 Teams will train for 3 months and play in a
traveling summer league. As directed by the Technical
Director, Assistant Director, and Program Director, the U21
will provide minimum hours of training services to the
Academy and Program, principally during the summer, and
at other times as available.
Positional Training
About twice a month, and during a three-day winter camp,
specialized club-wide training will bring players from
different teams and age groups to develop and hone
positional skills.
Unified System of Play
All 11x11 teams learn and primarily use a high pressure
1-3-4-3 system of play, encouraging rapid development
of individual touch, passing, and movement, skills. The
club’s implementation of a common system of play also
facilitates intra-club guest play and guest coaching. All
players will participate in a one-week summer camp with
their assigned team and coach, during which each team’s
use of the system will be reinforced.
Commitment
Volunteerism is at the heart of Sac United’s success and
is expected by all families at our Sac United tournaments
and club wide events. A $75 volunteer fee per family
will be charged at registration that will be refunded upon
completion of 15 hours of club volunteering.
