Saifor is the solution to improve energy consumption
Important Spanish company specialized in Internet services, Web page hosting and domain
registration. Throughout its 10 years in business, the company has had more than 35,000
registered customers.
In mid-2010 Interdominios decided to install a Datacenter
characterized by its high density and energy efficiency in
Pozuelo de Alarcon in Madrid.
The datacenter needed a capacity up to 48 racks and 12KW
energy power per rack. The challenge was special, because it
was not a datacenter in use, its location was a little peculiar
because it was located in a underground parking lot where the
useful height was less than 3 meters and the installation of a
raised floor was impossible.
INTERDOMINIOS facilities in Madrid
Interdominios studied all the different market options, and
decided to implement a cold aisle cluster solution , with a
cooling “in raw” system..
The modular distribution with three cluster of 16 racks each,
gives the opportunity to invest in scalable to meet the needs
that might arise, adding cooling units according to
Interdominios customers’ racks occupation demand. With the
design and cooling system proposed by SAIFOR,
Interdominios has managed to reduce the energy consumption
forseen in more than 25%.

This system isolates the hot aisle, which can be integrated with existing ARCTIC racks in the row or
it can be reached with the use of a free independent containment system, which gives the
simplicity of adding and removing racks from the row.
With SAIFOR hot containment system configuration increases the cooling predictability in extreme high density environment
which gives rack level solution that cancels the hot air at the racks or row.

CUBO® ACTIVE COLD CONTAINMENT
Synonym of energy efficiency, up to 10-12Kw per Rack
This system allows isolating the cold aisle in a closed containment. The cold aisle containment system can also be integrated
with ARCTIC server racks in the row or with the use of an independent containment.
The closed containment design helps to create more efficient cold aisle and reduce air mixing blocking every escape routes.
This solution can improve efficiency while lowering operational costs. This solution gives a complete control of datacenter
airflow dynamic at the aisle level developing increased efficiency and equipment performance while reducing energy
consumption in the datacenter.
SAIFOR Cold Active Containment will ensure the proper and balanced inlet temperature to
the servers, giving the possibility to implement containments with different temperature
set points and alarms thresholds.
Whereas hot air containment system is the common deployment model of SAIFOR, but there are some cases that require

The first Datacenter using HDC cooling technology in Iran
The Backup Datacenter of the Pasargad Bank uses the HDC cooling unit in number of 14 x 36 KW
with all Saifor racks, containment and accessories .
The Pasargad Bank (BPI) was established in 2005 as part of government’s
privatization of banking system and it is one of the six private banks in Iran.
This bank is the major Iranian establishment offering retail, commercial
and investment banking services with over 1648 employees and 150
branches becoming the fastest growing bank in Iran and the fifth largest in
the country.
In 2010, The Banker magazine rated BPI as among the top “1000 banks in
the world”, racing 435th overall. The Bank is also on The Banker’s list of
the top 500 Islamic financial institutions.
In 2011 the Pasargad Bank has decided to install the first datacenter in Iran
and even in Middle East that have used the HDC cooling unit in number
14x36KW with all SAIFOR racks, containment and accessories.
The mechanical system of this datacenter has been designed and
implemented by Tavan Sarma Team; it is based on Ashrea Best Practice
and TIA 942 Tier 3. The entire process was completed in less than 30 days.

HDC RACK (High Density Cooling)
Closed loop solution
SAIFOR HDC Rack is a neutral air containment system mounted on SAIFOR racks, which can
achieve hardware densities and energy consumption level up to 31 KW. The HDC rack allows
datacenter to solve any hot spot incident without renewing the overall infrastructure.
Nowadays the battle with high-density racks of equipment is a big
challenge, that is why SAIFOR is always researching for new cooling
solutions that include highly efficient enclosure that can support energy
and heat loads.
With the rack cooling design, a closed loop is created by a lateral
connection of the racks to the cooling units through additional frames
placed at the ends of the assembly, enabling maximum use of the rack in
depth and optimisation of the air flows.
The airflow is managed outside the rack space through the front/rear addon frames without interfering to server exhausts fans or cabling. These
frames guarantee that the cool units keep operating efficiently and also
assure the availability of cold air to the front of servers’ air intake, with a
greater ∆T.
The HDC Rack is the most efficient solution, because it is possible to work with ? T of the air up to 25ºC, and is therefore the
most ideal solution for ultra high-density applications combined with external free-cooling type chillers.
As a standalone concept, provides efficient cooling independently of the room conditions, and it also gives the possibility of a
quiet datacenter, thanks to its acoustic isolation system, which it is meant to be placed in environments not designed for high
density applications, for example, offices.
In terms of security, the standard supply of SAIFOR HDC Rack incorporates an automatic door opening system, which was
especially designed in case of emergency due to problems in the chilling circuit or in case of fire.

HDC AISLE (High Density Cooling)
The ideal solution for medium and large datacenter
This cooling system is specially designed for medium and high
density datacenter. Its aim is to increase efficiency by placing the
cool units closer to the heat sources, which will absorb the air from
the cold aisle, cooling it and blowing it towards the air intakes of the
servers.
The SAIFOR HDC Aisle allows a greater modularity in planning,
because it provides the necessary capacities for the installation date
and the foresight needed to adapt the infrastructure to future
needs.
In this respect, SAIFOR offers empty modules with the same
dimension that can be installed in the same row of racks. The
advantage is that the hydraulic installation can be planned in the
initial phase of the project, and additional cool units can be fitted
only once they are needed.
The combination of this system with SAIFOR aisle air containment CUBO can provide the greater
efficiency to a datacenter, because it prevents mixing of hot and cold air, which can be absorbed
by the installed equipment.

Holding the air inside the datacenter- Separating cool air from warm is an important energy efficiency strategy that figures
prominently in energy efficiency optimizations at major companies. It is necessary to confine cooled air and waste heat as
much as possible, rather than to allow hot and cool air to mix, which requires the continual use of additional energy to cool a
larger volume of air. Avoiding air stream is a good way to achieve the dreamed level of efficiency.
The design of SAIFOR CUBO allows having total access to the top of the containment which is make easy to maintenance
works, cable raceways and cleaning, also having a lighting system and fire suppression system.

Roof tiles of corridor, fireproof rated as Class B in accordance to EN-13561-1, can be easily removed from inside by a quick fit

The nexus between continents
D-ALiX is part of ALiX project, that its main objective is not only helping ITC companies, but also to
transform TENERIFE - SPAIN in a nexus of telecommunications networks in three continents
(Africa, America, Europe), developing an entire concept of ALIX.
D-ALiX facilites in Tenerife - SPAIN
The business philosophy of D-Alix datacenter (NAP West Africa, Canary Islands, SL) is to serve as a basic infrastructure that
allows the customers to develop their business model, instead of major investments, this project gives them the possibility of
renting an space, having a flexible growth, while they can benefit from economies of scale broadcasted by the infrastructure
promoter (the Technological Institute of Renewable Energies).

To create this nexus of telecommunication networks, Alix has used a CPD
TIER III PLUS, which has been specifically designed to get this connection.
This project is carried out using a submarine cable from South America
(out of Fortaleza in Brazil) and another one from North America (Miami,
USA) that connects with Tenerife, that is the first anchor node from which
comes another submarine cable that connects with the African continent
and then connecting with other point in Europe (Cadiz, Spain) getting the
connection between the 3 continents.
Saifor’s CUBO® system, improves the energy
savings and complies the objective of this project.
This datacenter pretends to be a sustainability example, because besides
having a photovoltaic plant which helps to get the third part of the
datacenter energy consumption, it is also located inside a 13MW Aeolian
19" high-tech equipment
park that could be extended to 36 MW (energy generator by renewable
sources).
D-ALIX main objective is the energy consumption control within the
design of the datacenter, knowing that the cooling system of the rooms is
the largest consumption in it; D’ALIX looked for solutions to control the
consumption and optimise the resources. The best one to this problem
was a cold aisle containment which avoids the mixing between the hot
and cold air inside the datacenter.
To this project the organism in charge of D’ALIX has decided to select

LA CAIXA
SAIFOR products are part of the new datacenter of
La Caixa Bank in Spain.
"La Caixa" has started the work of the first of two cutting-edge technological centers that will be
built in the Directional Center in Cerdanyola, Spain. The new facility will become a pioneer in
electrical infrastructure, computer and telecommunications in Europe.
This data center will be equipped with the most powerful commercial computers and servers
on the market, which will have the most advanced virtualization techniques in Europe. All
these characteristics will allow optimizing energy and spacing efficiency of the new
equipment. Also the location of this data center inside the Directional Center in Cerdanyola
allows having a dual power supply that will provide a high quality and reliable service,
connected to a hot and cold exteriorized distribution and have access to a wide range of
operators and telecommunication services.

THE LATEST TECHNOLOGIES
This building is an example of eco-efficiency, because it has energy savings systems by maximizing natural light, also controls
the flow of the taps which helps to reduce the water consumption by 50%, and also has underground tanks to storage
rainwater that is used for cleaning, irrigation and fire extinction if it is necessary.
Nowadays they are working in the latest technology equipment that will be used in the first of the two buildings, which will be
functioning in the first semester of 2011. The investment of both of these projects exceeded the 200 million euros.
Both advanced technology centers will be able to give the answers to any new computing needs of La Caixa. This bank has
experienced a significant business growth in recent years; its leadership and firm commitment to technology are the incentives
for carrying out a project of this magnitude.
La Caixa, in order to make a difference has selected companies that can provide solutions

SAIFOR CHIMNEY CONTAINMENT SYSTEM
The new solution to server density
SAIFOR chimney methods have a structure which is fitted on top of the rear racks.
All the heat exhausted from the equipment mounted on the rack is grabbed and
thrown through this chimney structure where it is re-directed back to the cooling
units inside de datacenter.
This process gives an additional efficiency to this type of airflow solution because it
allows that the hot air get back to the cooling units making them more efficient by
operating at a higher ∆T and also improve the cooling capacity which helps to
reduce operating costs.
SAIFOR offers two different types chimney, both of them are equipped with
deflectors, that allows the airflow circulation.

SAIFOR EMERGENCY SOLUTION
Automatic opening roof panel system
SAIFOR roof panel is specially designed to open automatically
allowing gas suppressant or water from sprinkles to go through the
aisle in case of a fire emergency. With the design of this roof panel
there is no need to modify and broaden the sprinklers of the room.
In operation mode SAIFOR Cold containment is fully closed but if
there is a fire emergency the cold containment open completely
(roofs panels and doors), allowing a maximum access for fire
suppression system (gas and water).

different combination for 1200mm, 1400mm and 1600mm

Automatic opening panel system

center. The automatic system allows 105ºpanel opening
letting gas suppressant or water to pass through the
containment.
Ÿ The central section has a top deflector design that helps
the gas or water to get into the aisle.
Ÿ Each module is equipped with an electric magnet which
closes two panels at the same time.
Ÿ The design of this panel allows a quick and easy cleaning of
the superior part of the panel, because it has a total access
to it when is open.
Ÿ When there is an emergency alarm, the double sliding
doors open at the same time as the panels, leaving the aisle
completely clear, allowing the gas or water to get into any
single space inside the containment and letting anyone to
get out of the containment easily.
Ÿ The longitudinal lighting beam can be extended to install
wider lights or sensors.
Ÿ The inside lighting installation has a hidden wiring duct,
which allow an aesthetic cable management.

ABU DHABI POLICE
Abu Dhabi Police in Yas Island Police Station is in charge of monitoring the major international
events on Yas Island.
Cassidian Company is in charge of the design of the new Events
Management Suite of Abu Dhabi Police in the Yas Island Police
Station. This prestigious project will monitor major international
events on Yas Island, such as the forthcoming Formula 1 Grand Prix
which will be held from 11th to 13th November.
The purpose is to build a control room which will have state-of-theart technology and its interior design will create a very welcoming
ergonomic 24-7 environment, which is complemented by the
stunning views from the suite to the Yas Motor Circuit and Ferrari
World.
Cassidian has selected Intertech that is SAIFOR official partner in
Abu Dhabi to collaborate with this project.
In order to obtain the ergonomic environment of the project,

and communication services like voice, data and images prevail.

SAITEK subsidiary of SAIFOR group was in charge of the design,
develop and installation of the control room and the entire visual
system, which was adequate for 8 operators, providing them all the
functionality they need.
After a deep study of the clients’ operational requests, SAIFOR
group concluded that the best solution for this project was the
installation of two VDS console, each of them suitable to be used by
4 operators, a printing module for the location of peripherals
adapted to the room, a Video wall manufactured by Samsung with
LCD 42” screens and a very thin frame formed by a 4x2 LCD wall
configuration system.
SAIFOR group designed the project trying to keep and enhance the
aesthetic of the room, to get this SAIFOR team has used a special
enclosure made of hinged and folding panels that give access to the
filing cabinets, which are completely embedded and hidden in the
panel, providing a sense of a continuous wall and also allowed the
full integration of the LCD video wall creating an Avant-guard
environment.
In this control room SAIFOR group was not only in charge of the
visualization and panelling, but also was in charge of the full
integration of the whole audio system inside the control room.

Safety and local control.
SAITEK subsidiary of SAIFOR Group, was in charge of the design and remodeling of the Control
Room of Alcala de Henares local police department.

From this control room the police manages the semaphores of the
city, the 40 closed circuit urban traffic control, DGT roads that belong
to the municipality, the cameras of all municipal public buildings
(museums, libraries, city hall, schools, etc ...) complaints of Gender
Violence, the police GPS (positioning of all police vehicles) 112
emergency number, etc.
The solution provided by SAIFOR group for this project was the
ergonoc console and a 6 cube Led video wall which allow having a
perfect control of every single security camera located in the urban
area.
SAIFOR ERGONOC console provided the adequate solution for this
working environment, which was adapted to give the comfort and
functionality needed in this type of job. The ergonomic design and
the modularity of the furniture complies the operators’ needs inside

RAISED FLOORING SYSTEM
Modular solution to a working environment.
SAIFOR Raised floor has a customized design, which is formed by a truss structure that brings
lightness; this structure is formed by tubular steel pipe supports forming a net separated into two
perpendicular directions and fixed with anchors.
All tubes used in this structure are treated by electro coating, which protects them from corrosion and provides greater
mechanical performance.
The structure supports a pavement tile encapsulated in a high-strength steel plate on top and pre-perforated sheet at the
bottom for the electro coating process each line negative or positive of the undulating interior, perimetric topping frame with
a U form double sheet welded to the core giving strength and resistance to stripping.
SAIFOR raised floor also has an expansion joint that absorbs any dimensional changes of temperature giving flexibility to the
structure that avoid the rest of the components to suffer wear due from the use and a bracing system formed by a cold-rolled
steel which forms a rigid and lightweight structure with different areas of reinforcement of different thickness and layering.

EDGES FINISHES
The edge finishes system is adapted to the distance
between the structure and the wall avoiding a distance of
nearly a tile to topping frame of the non-structural wall
area.
The wall finishes system is waterproof for the Plenum area
and avoids any horizontal displacement of the tile, this
system has an L form support fixed to the wall by different
screw connection points.
Access Door finishes
Access Door to equipment areas, Saifor raised floor
incorporates solutions that hold up the adjacent tile
correctly and avoid a horizontal displacement.
Column finishes
For column finishes an L solution is used to support the
cold-rolled and continuous steel structure with a steel top
to mark the final position of the tile avoiding the
incorporation of feet.
AIR GRILLES
These grilles are used in the assembly of raised floor in a
CPD room. They are made with steel sheets and extruded
aluminium slats and mechanized with a unique beam
which gives the grilles the right load capacity and also
allow the air to pass with the minimum friction, optimising
the static load that has to be generated by the cooling
equipment.
The tops of the grilles are specially configured (0%, 50%;
100%) to a proper sealing of the plenum once you proceed
to use them.
This entire structure give functionality, optimise space and
also manage all the electrical distribution, cable system,
cooling distribution, building management, probe, etc…

The international airport Silvio Pettirossi in Paraguay installed new
radar and telecommunication systems which are being activated
gradually. DINAC, which is the organism in charge of civil
aeronautics in Paraguay, presented to the media the latest
innovations that have been installed in the airport.
The new control room is located at Mariano Roque Alonso section
in the airport, The Unified Control Room Area which aims to
establish full coverage of the country's airspace in voice and data
communications from level 50 through repeaters that are
connected by satellite links and fibre-optic. The latest
technological system installed in this airport was the Aircon 2100.
