catalysts such as aluminium chloride.

Thermal oxidation degradation of this product
can produce toxic gases such as carbon
monoxide, mesityl oxide, and partial oxidation

6. TOXICOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

defatting the tissue, which can subsequently
lead to dermatitis.

dizziness, drowsiness, fainting, lack of
coordination, kidney damage secondary to red
blood cell breakdown and liver damage may

of a large spill evacuate all non-essential
personnel.

proof equipment to clean up spill. Place
absorbent and spilled material in a proper
waste disposal drum.

Skin Contact:
Irritation. Can cause defatting of skin, which
may lead to dermatitis.
Skin Absorption:
Ethylene glycol propyl ether can be absorbed
through the skin and is moderately toxic.
Eye Contact:
May cause severe eye irritation, experienced
as discomfort, excess redness and swelling
of the conjunctiva - possible corneal damage.
Inhalation:
Vapours may produce irritation of the
respiratory tract as experienced by nasal
discomfort and discharge, chest discomfort,
cough and difficulty with breathing. Extended
or repeated exposure above recommended
concentrations
may
cause
nervous
depression.
Ingestion:
May cause mouth, throat, esophagus and
stomach irritation, nausea, vomiting, and
diarrhea. Signs of intoxication may also result
of ingestion.

7. PREVENTIVE MEASURES:
Personal Protective Equipment:

If exposure exceeds recommended values
wear a NIOSH approved respirator for organic
vapors, or self-contained breathing equipment.

Chemical safety goggles.
Footwear:

Engineering Controls:
Flammable material - grounding/bonding must
be used when pouring this product. All
equipment, such as bung wrenches, must be
spark proof. All electrical equipment should be
spark proof. Adequate ventilation should be
employed where this product is used.
Leak and Spill Procedures:
Eliminate all sources of ignition. In the event
of a large spill evacuate all non-essential
personnel.
Clean up staff should wear
appropriate personal protective equipment.
Dike with absorbent material to prevent entry
into sewers and waterways. Use only spark
proof equipment to clean up spill. Place
absorbent and spilled material in a proper
waste disposal drum.
Waste Disposal:
Dispose of in accordance to all government
regulations for a hazardous waste.

8. FIRST AID MEASURES
Eye Contact:

with water to prevent static discharge. Wash
with soap and water.
