THE SYSTEM SHALL BE SETUP FOR BASIC OPERATION TO RUN IN BOTH AN ON/OFF MODE AND AN IDLING MODE. WHILE THE SYSTEM IS IN BASIC OFF
MODE, THE SYSTEM OPERATOR SHALL BE ABLE TO SELECT SPECIFIC USER IDENTIFIED ZONES TO OPERATE IN IDLING MODE. THE SYSTEM OPERATOR
SHALL BE ABLE TO EASILY SWITCH BETWEEN IDLING AND MELTING MODES. THE SYSTEM SHALL MONITOR STATUS OF ALL SYSTEM EQUIPMENT AND
TEMPERATURES AT ALL ZONE AND SYSTEM TEMPERATURE SENSORS AS WELL AS THE OUTDOOR AIR TEMPERATURE. THE SYSTEM SHALL MONITOR AND
RECORD OVERALL ENERGY CONSUMPTION (IN BTU'S) BASED ON MAIN SNOWMELT SYSTEM SUPPLY/RETURN WATER TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCE AND
PUMP P-2 OPERATION. THE SYSTEM SHALL MONITOR AND LOG THE RUN TIME OF THE BOILER.
CONTROLS POINTS LIST
WHEN THE SENSOR INDICATES THE OUTDOOR AIR TEMPERATURE BELOW 37°F (ADJ) BUT NO MOISTURE PRESENT, SYSTEM SHALL OPERATE IN
SECONDARY IDLING MODE AND THE SNOWMELT CONTROLLER SHALL PROVIDE A SIGNAL TO ENABLE SNOWMELT CIRCULATION PUMP. MAINTAIN SNOW
MELT SUPPLY WATER TEMPERATURE AT SETPOINT OF 110°F (ADJ.) AND A SLAB TEMPERATURE OF 28°F (ADJ) BY ENABLING THE SNOWMELT BOILER B-1
AND THE ASSOCIATED INJECTION PUMP P-1.
MAINTAIN DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE AT SETPOINT BY RAMPING UP AND DOWN THE PUMP'S VFD. STATIC DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE SETTING TO BE BASED
ON FEEDBACK FROM THE BALANCE CONTRACTOR.
PROVIDE A MANUAL OVERRIDE SWITCH WITH A SIX HOUR (ADJ.) TIMER TO CYCLE THE SYSTEM FOR ICE CLEARING.
PROVIDE BOILER SHUTDOWN SWITCH LOCATED AT BOILER ROOM EXIT DOORS. SHUTDOWN SYSTEM SHALL COMPLY WITH ASME-CDS-1. DIVISION 23
CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE THE SWITCH AND ALL REQUIRED CONTROL WIRING. ALL WIRING SHALL BE IN CONDUIT. A CLEAR POLYCARBONATE HINGED
COVER SHALL BE PROVIDED TO PREVENT ACCIDENTAL OPERATION OF SWITCH. SWITCH SHALL HAVE ENGRAVED NAMEPLATES TO IDENTITY SWITCH AS
"BOILER EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN". DIVISION 23 CONTROLS CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE WITH DIVISION 26 FOR SAFE SHUTDOWN OF BOILERS.

WHEN THE SENSOR INDICATES THE OUTSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE BELOW 37°F (ADJ.) AND MOISTURE PRESENT, THE SYSTEM SHALL OPERATE IN PRIMARY
MELTING MODE AND THE SNOWMELT CONTROLLER SHALL PROVIDE A SIGNAL TO ENABLE SNOWMELT CIRCULATION PUMPS P-2. MAINTAIN SNOW MELT
SUPPLY WATER TEMPERATURE AT SETPOINT OF 140°F (ADJ.) AND A SLAB TEMPERATURE OF 40°F (ADJ) BY ENABLING THE SNOWMELT BOILER B-1 AND THE
ASSOCIATED INJECTION PUMP P-1 PUMP AND BOILER SHALL BE OFF WHEN A CALL FOR MELT IS NO LONGER PRESENT.
