SECTION 101500 – TOILET COMPARTMENTS
PART 1 – GENERAL
1.1
RELATED DOCUMENTS
A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary
Conditions and Division 1 Specification Sections, apply to this Section.
1.2
SUMMARY
A. This Section includes custom fit, manufactured toilet compartments and urinal screens,
floor mounted, overhead braced.
B. Plastic laminate – type.
C. Solid Plastic – type – Additive Alternate.
1.3
SUBMITTALS
A. General: Submit the following in accordance with Conditions of Contact.
B. Product data for materials, fabrication, and installation including catalog cuts of
anchors, hardware, fastenings, and accessories.
C. Shop drawings for fabrication and erection of toilet and shower compartment
assemblies not fully described by product drawings, templates, and instruction for
installation of anchorage devices built into other work.
D. Samples: Sample of each exposed hardware device.
1.4
QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Field Measurements: Take field measurements prior to preparation of shop drawings
and fabrication, where possible, to ensure proper fitting of work. However, allow for
adjustments where taking of field measurements before fabrication might delay work.
B. Coordination: Furnish inserts and anchorages which must be built into other work for
installation of toilet compartments and related items. Coordinate delivery with other
work to avoid delay.
C. Warranty: Two year.
PART 2 – PRODUCTS
2.1
MANUFACTURERS
A. Laminate – type
1. Manufacturer: Subject to compliance with requirements, Bobrick Washroom
Equipment or approved equal.
2. Type: Plastic Laminate partitions.
3. Compartment style: Floor mounted, overhead braced.
4. Toilet accessories, such as toilet paper holders, grab bars, and purse shelves, are
specified in another Division 10 Section. Coordinate partition recessed accessories
with toilet compartments.
5. Style: “Designer Series”.
B. Solid plastic – type (HDFE)
1. Manufacturer: Accurate or Scranton or approved equal.
2. Type: Solid plastic.
3. Compartment style: Floor mounted.
4. Toilet accessories, such as toilet paper holders, grab bars, and purse shelves, are
specified in another Division 10 Section. Coordinate partition recessed accessories
with toilet compartments.

2.2
COMPONENTS/MATERIALS – LAMINATE – TYPE
A. Stiles, Panels, Doors, and Screens
1. All surfaces shall be high-pressure laminated plastic NEMA LDS-1985 minimum
thickness 0.050 inches with matte finish. Color and pattern as selected by Architect
from Bobrick standard colors.
2. Core
a. Stiles: 45 lb. density, industrial grade, resin-impregnated, particle board
bonded to each side of an 11-gauge steel reinforcing core.
b. Panels, doors and screens: 45 lb. density, industrial grade, resin-impregnated,
particle board.
B. Hardware
1. All hardware to be 18-8, type-304 stainless steel with satin finish.
2. All hardware shall be concealed inside compartments with the exception of
out-swinging doors.
3. Hardware of chrome-plated “Zarmac” is unacceptable.
C. Latch
1. Sliding door latch shall be 16-gauge.
2. Sliding door latch shall require less than 5 lb. force to operate. Twisting latch
operation will not be acceptable.
3. Latch track shall be attached to door by flatbed machine screws into factory-installed
T-nuts.
4. Latch handle shall have rubber bumper to act as a door stop.
5. Latch shall allow door to be lifted over 16-gauge keeper for emergency access.
6. Metal-to-metal connection shall withstand a direct pull of over 940 lb. per screw.
D. Hinges
1. Cam shall be adjustable in the field to permit door to be fully closed or partially open
when compartment is unoccupied.
2. Hinges shall be attached to door and stile by theft-resistant, one-way stainless steel
machine screws into factory-installed metal inserts. Fasteners secured directly into
the core are not acceptable.
3. Metal-to-metal connection shall withstand a direct pull of over 540 lb. per screw.
E. Coat Hook shall be constructed of stainless steel and shall project no more than
1-1/8 inches from face of door. Coat Hook shall be secured by theft-resistant, one-way
stainless steel screws.
F. Mounting Brackets shall be constructed of stainless steel and shall be mounted inside
compartment. Mounting Brackets exposed on the exterior of the compartment will not
be acceptable. Wall-mounted urinal screen brackets shall be 11-gauge double
thickness.
G. Leveling Device shall be 3/8 inch x 7/8 inch steel bar welded to 11-gauge
steel-reinforcing core. Leveling Device shall be chromate-treated and double
zinc-plated.
H. Stile Shoe shall be one-piece, 4 inches high, type-304, 22-gauge stainless steel with
satin finish. Top shall have 90 deg. return to stile. Patented one-piece shoe capable of
adapting to 3/4 inch or 1 inch stile thickness and capable of being fastened (by clip) to
stiles starting at wall line.
I. Headrail (Overhead-Braced) shall be extruded, satin finish anodized aluminum
(0.065 inch thick) with anti-grip profile.

2.3
COMPONENTS/MATERIALS – SOLID PLASTIC [ADDITIVE ALTERNATE]
A. Door Hardware shall be as noted:
1. Hinges operate with field adjustable nylon cams. Hinges shall be integral,
fabricated from the door and pilaster with no exposed metal parts.
2. Door strike/keeper shall be 6 inches long and made of heavy-duty extruded
aluminum (6436-T5 alloy) with a bright dip anodized finish and secured to the
pilasters with stainless steel tamper resistant torx head sex bolts. Bumper shall be
made of extruded black vinyl.
3. Latch and housing shall be made of heavy-duty extruded aluminum (6463-T5 alloy).
The latch housing shall have a bright dip anodized finish, and the slide bolt and
button shall have a black anodized finish. ADA accessible at all locations.
4. Each door shall be supplied with one coat hook/bumper and door pull made of
chrome plated zamak. Handicapped doors shall be supplied with a second door
pull and out swing doors with one
B. Pilaster shoes shall be 3 inches high and made of one-piece molded HDPE plastic.
Pilaster shoes shall be secured to the pilaster with a stainless steel tamper resistant
torx head sex bolt.
C. Wall brackets shall be 1-1/2 inches stirrup type made of heavy-duty aluminum
(6463-T5 alloy) with a bright dip anodized finish. Stirrup brackets shall be fastened to
pilasters and panels with stainless steel tamper resistant torx head sex bolts.
D. Headrail shall be made of heavy-duty extruded aluminum (6463-T5 alloy) with anti-grip
design and integrated curtain track. The headrail shall have a clear anodized finish and
shall be fastened to the headrail bracket by a stainless steel tamper resistant torx head
sex bolt, and fastened at the top of the pilaster with stainless steel tamper resistant torx
head screws.
E. Headrail brackets shall be 20-gauge stainless steel with a satin finish and secured to
the wall with stainless steel tamper resistant torx head screws.
F. Color: Architect to select from all Manufacturer’s color options.
G. Size: 1 inch thick; 55 inches high panels (14 inch AFF); 82 inch pilaster.
H. All doors and accessories to be ADA accessible at noted stalls.
PART 3 – EXECUTION
3.1
INSTALLATION
A. General: Comply with manufacturer's recommended procedures and installation
sequence. Install compartment units rigid, straight, plumb, and level.
B. Provide clearances of not more than 1/4 inch between pilasters and panels, and not
more than 1 inch between panels and walls. Secure panels to walls with not less than
two stirrup brackets attached near top and bottom of panel. Locate wall brackets so
that holes for wall anchorages occur in masonry or tile joints. Secure panels to pilasters
with not less than two stirrup brackets located to align with stirrup brackets at wall.
Secure panels in position with manufacturer's recommended anchoring devices.
3.2
ADJUST AND CLEAN
A. Hardware Adjustment: Adjust and lubricate hardware for proper operation. Set hinges
on in-swinging doors to hold open approximately 30 degrees for closed position when
unlatched. Set hinges on out-swinging doors (and entrance swing doors) to return to
fully closed position.
B. Clean exposed surfaces of partition systems using materials and methods
recommended by manufacturer, and provide protection as necessary to prevent
damage during remainder of construction period.

PART 1 – GENERAL

SUBMITTALS
A. Manufacturer's Data: Submit manufacturer's technical data, anchor details and
installation instructions; Dade County approval data.
B. Shop Drawings: Submit shop drawings for the fabrication and erection of louver
assemblies which are not completely shown by manufacturer's data. Include detail
sections connections, anchorage and accessory items.
C. Samples of color chips.
D. Provide water and wind test data: Wind requirements – see Structural Sheet S-002,
ASCE-07 table.
1.4
QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Comply with Aluminum Association, Architectural Aluminum Manufacturers'
Association, and SMACNA, "Architectural Sheet Metal Manual" recommendations for
design, fabrication, construction details, and installation procedures, except as
otherwise shown or specified.
B. Verify size, location and placement of louver units prior to fabrication. Coordinate field
measurements with shop drawings, fabrication and shop assembly.
PART 2 – PRODUCTS
2.1
MATERIALS
A. Aluminum Extrusions: ASTM B221, Alloy 6063-T5.
B. Fastenings: Fasteners may be stainless steel or aluminum. Provide types, gauges
and lengths to suite unit installation conditions. Use Phillips flat-head machine screws
for exposed fasteners, unless otherwise shown, with finish to match louver.
C. Anchor and Inserts: Use stainless-steel for anchors and inserts. Use steel expansion
bolt devices for drilled-in-place anchors. Furnish inserts, as required, to be set into
concrete and masonry work. Provide method to separate dissimilar metals.
2.2
EXTRUDED ALUMINUM LOUVERS
A. Manufacturer: Furnish Construction Specialties (C/S) Model DC-5304, 5-inch, Ruskin
EME 20MD or approved equal. Impact resistant NOT required.
B. Furnish louvers with frames (0.08 inch) and blades (0.06 inch) extruded aluminum of
profile depth, and sizes indicated.
C. Assembly louvers and provide all supports, anchorages, and accessories for complete
installation.

D. Provide sills of 4 inches high by full depth sill flashing formed from minimum 0.050 inch
thick aluminum; sill flashings to have welded side panels on louvers over 2 feet X 2 feet.

2.6
SCREENS
A. Provide removable screens for all large exterior louvers.
B. Fabricate bird screen frames of 1/4 inch square mesh, 16-gauge aluminum wire with
finish to match the louvers to which secured. Provide frames of extruded aluminum for
permanently securing screen mesh.
C. Locate screens on inside face louvers, unless shown otherwise. Secure screens to
louver frames with clips or sheet metal screws, spaced at each corner and at 12 inches
o.c. between.
PART 3 – EXECUTION
3.1
INSTALLATION
A. Locate and place louver units plumb, level and in proper alignment with adjacent work.
B. Use concealed anchorages wherever possible. Provide brass or lead washers fitted to
screws where required to protect metal surfaces and to make a weathertight connection.
C. Louver and sill flashings to be installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s
recommendations to ensure water integrity performance. Sill pan shall be continuous;
no splices.
D. Repair damaged finishes that are approved for field finish repair. Provide new units
when field finish repair is not acceptable.
E. Provide concealed gaskets, flashings, sealants and install as the work progresses to
make the installations weathertight.
F. Refer to Division 7 for sealants.

B. Single-Source Responsibility: For each separate sign type required, obtain signs
from one source of a single manufacturer.
PART 2 – PRODUCTS
2.1
SIGNS
A. Sign Panels: Permanently laminate face panels to backing sheets of material and
thickness indicated using the manufacturer’s standard process.
B. Raised Copy: Machine-cut copy characters from matte-finished opaque acrylic sheet
and chemically weld onto the acrylic sheet forming sign panel face. Produce
precisely formed characters with square cut edges free from burrs and cut marks.
Provide Grade 2 Braille for all signs, integral with panel face; tape-applied Braille
characters are not acceptable. Raised copy thickness and size to comply with ADA
requirements.
C. Manufacturers: Provide panel signs by Ed Brown Enterprises (Design Basis),
Metallic Arts, or approved equal.
D. All signs are ABS panel signs unless otherwise noted.
2.2
CAST ALUMINUM LETTERS
A. Aluminum Cast Characters: Produce characters with smooth flat faces, sharp corners,
and precisely formed lines and profiles, free of pits, scale, sand holes, and other
defects. Cast lugs into back of characters and tap to receive threaded mounting studs.
Alloy and temper recommended by sign manufacturer for casting process used and for

FABRICATION
A. General: No names or labels are permitted on exposed faces of toilet and bath
accessory units. On either interior surface not exposed to view of on back surface,
provide identification of each accessory item either by a printed, waterproof label or a
stamped nameplate indicating manufacturer’s name and product model number.
B. Toilet Accessories, General: Except where otherwise indicated, fabricate units with
tight seams and joints, exposed edges rolled. Hang doors or access panels with
continuous stainless steel piano hinge. Provide concealed anchorage wherever
possible.
C. Keys: Provide universal keys for access to toilet accessory units requiring internal
access for servicing, resupply, etc. Provide minimum of six keys to Owner’s
representative.
PART 3 – EXECUTION
3.1
INSTALLATION
A. Install toilet accessory units according to manufacturer’s instructions, using fasteners
appropriate to substrate as recommended by unit manufacturer. Install units plumb
and level, firmly anchored in locations and at heights indicated.
B. Secure mirrors to walls in concealed, tamperproof manner with special hangers,
toggle bolts, or screws. Set units plumb, level, and square at locations indicated,
according to manufacturer’s instructions for type of substrate involved.
C. Install grab bars to withstand a downward load of at least 250 lbs., complying with
ASTM F446.
3.2
ADJUSTING AND CLEANING
A. Adjust toilet accessories for proper operation and verify that mechanisms function
smoothly. Replace damaged or defective items.
B. Clean and polish all exposed surfaces strictly according to manufacturer’s
recommendations after removing temporary labels and protective coatings.

A. Product data for each miscellaneous specialty item specified, including construction
details relative to materials, dimensions, gauges, profiles, mounting method,
specified options, and finishes.
B. Installation instructions, including templates, substrate preparation instructions, and
directions for installing anchorage devices.

QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Inserts and Anchorages: Furnish accessory manufacturer’s standard inserts and
anchoring devices that must be set in concrete or built into masonry. Coordinate
delivery with other work to avoid delay.

PROJECT CONDITIONS
A. Coordination: Coordinate specialty locations, installation, and sequencing with other
work to avoid interference with and ensure proper installation, operation, adjustment,
cleaning, and servicing.

3.1
INSTALLATION
A. Install miscellaneous specialty units according to manufacturer’s instructions, using
fasteners appropriate to substrate as recommended by unit manufacturer. Install
units plumb and level, firmly anchored in locations and at heights indicated.
3.2
ADJUSTING AND CLEANING
A. Adjust miscellaneous specialties for proper operation and verify that mechanisms
function smoothly. Replace damaged or defective items.
B. Clean and polish all exposed surfaces strictly according to manufacturer’s
recommendations after removing temporary labels and protective coatings.
