Confessions: Sat: 3:30 to 4:30 p.m Page Two St. Bernardine of Siena Dear Friends, In the months before ordination to the priesthood, our class of 13 were each given two bottles of wine to practice Mass and were encouraged to take a sip each morning so we would be used to it by the time we became priests. It was terrible stuff. I tasted mine and want no more of it just like most of the class. Two members, however, were happy to take it off our hands. They said they needed to practice saying Mass a bit more than the rest of us! Since then I have become an oenophile (I just looked up the word - it means ‘lover of wine’) which is why today’s gospel story is now one of my favorites. Just imagine, Jesus' first miracle is the change of water into wine. And all the details are terrific - his mother caused it! He created over 100 gallons! Jars filled to the brim and the best quality! I like it when couples choose this Gospel story for their wedding. I often make the analogy between how Jesus made wine and how they must love - make all of you can, unmeasured, to the brim and the finest quality. Perhaps, it’s the message for us too, today. ~ Father McNamara Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday Monday, January 15th The office will be closed in observance of the holiday.
