‫בנין התפעל‬
The stem of hitpa’el has two components: it+pa’el. The prefix it is the unique marker of
hitpa’el and it is always preceded by another marker:
1. In the present tense the marker is: mem
2. In the past tense the marker is: hay
The hit’pael is:
Reflexive
 ‫( לְ ִה ְת ָרחֵ ץ‬to wash oneself)
 ‫( לְ ִה ְתלַ בֵ ש‬to get dressed)
Reciprocal
 ‫( לְ ִה ְתחַַתֵַן‬to get married)
 ‫( לְ ִה ְת ַנַשֵַק‬to kiss each other)
Passive

