FElDMAN - COMMuNAl DEDiCATiON AwARD Dr. Feldman is one of the most venerable doctors in Crown Heights and is well-known amongst many medical professionals in the New York City area. while respected for his medical advice, he is also esteemed for his parental-style care of his patients, often available at a moment’s notice for any type of malady. He rarely sleeps a full night and frequently goes beyond the call of duty–but in his eyes, this is expected. He does whatever he can to ensure that all of his patients receive the best medical expertise and care. Dr. Feldman’s connection with Torah is remarked upon by many of his patients. Most notable is his affinity with Kabbalah, specifically when pertaining to the Names of Hashem. in spite of, or perhaps because of, his focus on the need for health, he recognizes the need for daily Torah study. Due to the important role Yagdil Torah plays in the community with regards to Torah study, Dr. Feldman agreed to be an honoree and participate in the dinner, despite his ongoing busy schedule. Tonight we all show appreciation and gratitude to our very own, well-beloved Dr. Feldman! RABBI GERSHON SELINGER - EDuCATiON AwARD Rabbi Gershon Selinger is one of Yagdil Torah’s earliest supporters. He developed his care for and support of the organization while delving into a career of education. His involvement reached new heights when Yagdil Torah began its quest for the Heichal Halimmud. Around the time of the opening of the Heichal Halimmud, Rabbi Selinger was busy creating the "Kria institute," which is dedicated to improving Kria. This is a foundation of true educational progress. His institute is responsible for the improvement in Kria in hundreds of local students. This two-fold dedication–both to Yagdil Torah and to Torah study–makes Rabbi Selinger a natural choice for a Yagdil Torah honoree. On this momentous occasion, let us all recognize and salute a young pioneer and rising star in the world of Chinuch! MR. OREN POPPER - TORAH DEVOTION AWARD Mr. Oren Popper is a financial planner with a lot on his head, but Yagdil Torah is always at the front of his mind. His thoughts don’t remain in his head; he puts his ideas into action. One of Yagdil Torah’s most successful fundraising sources was kicked off by him. in addition to this, he initiated the Yagdil Torah calendar, and he continues to help with the funding to this day. He works on its improvement and development annually. it is due to him that it is as aesthetically pleasing as it is, and still so practical. Moreover, Mr. Popper singlehandedly underwrote the most accessible and largest digital library available in Crown Heights, which is located at the Heichal Halimmud. Men and boys come from all over to take advantage of this unbeatable and unique source. Mr. Popper has also helped Yagdil Torah in numerous other ways, both large and small. He has stated repeatedly that his is not a “supporter,” but rather he is a “partner” in our work. His caring and constant assistance is heartwarming. Calendar: Showcases our activities and eases one’s ability to keep on top of their learning commitments and opportunities. Location: Centrally located in the heart of Crown Heights, the Heichal Hallimud is the perfect place to learnigros Kodesh vol. 16 p. 361 whether you have time for a quick “drop in,” a regular learning session during your lunch break, or an intensive evening of learning. Its location provides it with a strong communal element and great familiarity. Hours: Open almost all hours of the day (6:00 AM until 2:00 AM), the Heichal ensures that no matter when you find the time or energy to learn, you will almost always be able to have an outlet for it. Environment: Stepping into the Heichal is nothing short of enlightening. The atmosphere is warm, heimish, quiet, clean, peaceful and highly conducive to learning. Shiur: A special room for Shiurim is available for anyone who wishes to learn in a larger group. Bigger & Better Our Heichal Halimmud is Boruch Hashem full during peak hours. We realize that we are outgrowing our current location, and as such we have exciting news: We’re hoping to open a new Heichal, in a new location! This new Heichal will be bigger than the current one, allowing for more people to learn in greater comfort, in addition to housing many more Seforim and learning materials. Coordination Is On The Rise Over the last several months, Yagdil Torah has worked to improve the coordination between different Mosdos in the Crown Heights area. We are not only working with the Mosdos separately, but we are also trying to work jointly with them. In addition to coordination, Yagdil Torah is emphasizing unity among the myriads of Crown Heights shuls. Thus far, we have received positive responses and are working to bring everyone together. We are currently in the process of implementing a program which will unite members from many different shuls in one place, at least once per month, for a learning session and refreshments. IYH this will grow until our community is once again permeated by achdus and oneness. OUR FUTURE Yagdil Torah never stands still. While we continue to uphold and improve all of our existing projects and programs, we are working on several new ones. Once they are developed we will unveil them to you in full. However, here are a few hints: • An international program which will increase Torah learning worldwide. • Heichal's getting too crowded? Don't worry! • Do you want to organize a shiur?
