Sample test
This is a sample examination for the Victoria Police Education Entrance Examination.
You should attempt all questions. When you have completed all of the questions press the
View answers button at the bottom of this page to see some suggested responses to the
questions.
Spelling test
In the test, thirty words are presented (by audio) at twenty second intervals. Each word is
repeated once. You should correctly write each spelling word after it is played.

website. Below are some sample spelling words used.

Reasoning Ability tests
There are three tests of reasoning ability: the Test of Verbal Reasoning, the Test of Numerical
Reasoning and the Test of Abstract Reasoning.
Test of Verbal Reasoning
This contains 34 multiple choice questions designed to assess your verbal reasoning ability

Writing task
This test requires you to produce a clear, fluent piece of writing. You are required to choose
one task from the two tasks provided. The piece of writing should be structured appropriately,
according to the type of communication which is being prepared. It should include a
beginning, a body or the main fact of the work, and a conclusion. Where necessary you
should make up facts to suit the task being covered. Pay attention to spelling, punctuation and
grammar as all English skills will be marked. While there is no word limit you should write
enough for the assessor to mark (approximately 2 pages). While forty minutes have been
allocated for the completion of this test, it is recommended that you allocate at least five
minutes to plan your response so that your ideas are expressed logically.
Write a full report of the following incident, explaining in detail exactly what happened.
Make sure you present your statement in a logical sequence including all relevant
information. Include any other details which you consider pertinent. You may make any
appropriate assumptions provided that they are consistent with the facts.
