This application is applicable for entry into ecological protection areas within Yushan, Taroko and Shei-pa National Parks. 2. There are no reservations for bunks in mountain shelters. These are provided mainly for emergency use. 3. Applications are strictly limited in number for any given time period. Be thorough in your information. Incomplete applications cannot be accepted. Applications will be issued in the order they are received whether by mail or online. 4. Read the following carefully before entering Ecological Protection Areas and Archeological Protection Area- Zhuilu old Road, and sign at the bottom. a) While in ecological protection areas, always carry your entry permit, team member name list, and personal identification for all members. b) Be aware that very real hazards are common in these areas, including wild animals, venomous snakes and insects. In some areas, climate conditions can quickly become extreme and change without warning. Landslides and falling rocks are a frequent hazard. c) Do not pollute the natural environment. Don’t litter or leave any garbage whatsoever. d) If you need to take samples for research purposes, you must obtain the necessary permits from park headquarters first. Hunting, poaching or disturbing wildlife, plant picking or clipping, and collecting rocks or minerals are all strictly prohibited. Violators will be prosecuted. e) Do not stray from the established trails and campsite areas. f) Do not use any form of broadcasting equipment or produce an unnecessary amount of noise. g) In the event of typhoons, forest fires or other emergencies, park headquarters will likely announce the closure of wilderness areas. Application Proceedings: The following proceedings also apply to Archeological Protection Area- Zhuilu old Road. a) For entry into ecological protection areas, please submit your completed application along with a return self-addressed stamped envelope. b) Applications requirements: 1) Park Ecological Protection Area Entry Permit: Completed application form with itinerary (one copy). 2) Restricted Mountain Area Permit: Three copies of each team member name list, itinerary and routes indicated on a map, copies of national ID cards for each member, and processing fee is free of charge. c) Application deadlines: One month to 7 working days prior to your intended time of travel. Applications can be made in person at park headquarters, by mail or at our website(online application is available in Chinese only. If you are in overseas, please apply through the mail, fax, or e-mail). Email: [email protected] d) Number of applicants: No more than 12 persons per team. For any more than that, a separate application is needed (applicant names cannot be repeated). If the team members are all foreigners, the team leader has to be a Taiwanese in case of the emergency rescue contact. If team member are over 12, the Taiwanese leader is also apply to the second team as well for the same time period. e) Hiking groups can apply for both Park Ecological Protection Area Entry Permits and Restricted Mountain Area Permit at the same time. Otherwise you may first apply for the Park Ecological Protection Area Entry Permit(from the park) and apply for the Restricted Mountain Area permit(from the police station) at a later date. f) If it is necessary to cancel your trip, or if you are delayed, you must inform the relevant park authorities at least 2 days in advance.
