3rd International Congress

3. MEDNARODNI KONGRES MEDICINSKIH IZVEDENCEV
WORD FROM
THE ORGANISERS
It is a great honour and privilege for me to invite you, in
the name of the Organisational Committee, to the 3rd
International Congress of Medical Assessors, which will be
organized by Pension and Invalidity Insurance Institute of
Slovenia, Health Insurance Institute of Slovenia and Domus
Ltd. in April 2013.
Members of the
Organising Committee:
Dean Premik, MSc,
Director of Medical
Assessment Division, ZPIZ,
Ljubljana
Boris Kramberger,
ZZZS Ljubljana
Brane Krajnik,
Director of DOMUS
Života Lovrenov, MD,
ZPIZ Ljubljana
Our decision a few years ago to take up the challenge of
organizing a congress of medical assessors has proved to be
correct due to extremely positive reactions on the part of
the participants of the first two congresses. We succeeded in
bringing together all those who participate in the procedures
for the establishing of work capacity and medical treatment:
general practitioners, employers’ representatives, members
of invalidity boards, medical boards, experts in safety at
work, judges of the Labour and Social Court. Due to a
profound exchange of ideas and experiences the conclusions
reached at the congress represent substantial help to all
who professionally participate in the procedures for the
establishing of permanent or temporary work incapacity;
they also serve as a basis for further development of medical
assessment in our country. The participants of the first
two congresses expressed their great appreciation for the
organization of the congress and the topics discussed. Our
intention is to continue with such practice and even improve
it. In terms of improving the quality, we invited several world-
renown professionals, whose contributions, we trust, will be
of extreme interest to you.
The congress is going to be held for the third time – already
traditionally – at the Habakuk hotel in Maribor. The venue
of the congress is located at the foot of the Pohorje slopes,
in the vicinity of the finish area of the Women’s Skiing World
Cup. The calm, green surroundings and friendly local people
are guarantees for a relaxing atmosphere, despite a tight
schedule of the congress. There will be also opportunities
to socialize, and you will be able to enjoy in good music and
gastronomic specialities of the Styria’s capital, the European
city of culture, Maribor. This could also be the opportunity
to meet your old friends as well as meet some new ones
from the entire Europe and to share your experiences with
professionals in the field of medicine, invalidity assessment
and safety at work in informal conversation.
It would be a great pleasure for us to be able to welcome
you at our 3rd International Congress of Medical Assessors in
Maribor in April 2013.

Prim. prof. dr. Marjan Bilban,

In cooperation with eminent Slovenian and foreign experts,
the Expert Committee has prepared an exceptionally
interesting scientific programme of the 3rd International
Congress of Medical Assessors in the Republic of Slovenia. The
main topic of the congress is the work capability assessment
for patients with psychiatric conditions and their treatment.
Renowned experts from all over Europe will present their
contributions on this topic, specifically on mood disorders,
psychotic disorders, anxiety and depression as well as organic
mental disorder. In addition, there will be talk of the impact
of psychosocial factors on the work and health of employees,
PTSM and many other issues that will attract your attention.
The main topic of the congress is so pressing that we devoted
all three days of the congress to it. We will, of course, retain
the now already traditional presentations of insurance
systems and disability assessment procedures in EU and
non-EU countries, which are scheduled for the first day of the
congress. We expanded the parallel section of the second
day into a daylong programme dedicated to topics related to
occupational medicine and safety at work. On the third day,
we will find out what the position of the judges at the Labour
and Social Court in Ljubljana is on this topic.
would like to cooperate with their posters to apply. The poster
section will be open all three days of the congress, offering
an excellent opportunity to present your work or the work
of your institution also through concrete examples from
practice.
The Expert Committee of the 3rd International Congress of
Medical Assessors in the Republic of Slovenia invites all that

We look forward to meeting you at the 3rd International
