No attempt was made to measure the radiation IN-FRONT of radiating antennas. It is assumed that normal precautions for work on high power sites will be followed and NO work will be carried out in front of any antenna unless it has been confirmed that no significant power is being radiated from the antenna. 3 ZCG SCALAR PO BOX 7, LINDENOW, VIC, 3865 \\Sync\zcg\19. EMR\Sample EMR Booklet.doc Insert Site Name Site Radiation Survey Report 2.0 EQUIPMENT The radiation survey was conducted using a RAHAM model 40 meter, a RAHAM 94 “E” field probe S/N9534041 and a RAHAM H105 “H” field probe S/N 9534018. “H” Field Probe Covers the Frequency Range 100 kHz – 1 GHz. The correction factors for the probe are within 2% for the frequencies involved in this survey. The “E” field probe covers the frequency range 200 kHz – 3GHz. The correction factors are less than 2% and no correction has been applied, as this is much smaller than the probes accuracy. All Equipment Calibrated by ARPANSA, 28th August 2007 NOTE: in some cases this procedure will overestimate the measured field. 4 ZCG SCALAR PO BOX 7, LINDENOW, VIC, 3865 \\Sync\zcg\19. EMR\Sample EMR Booklet.doc Insert Site Name Site Radiation Survey Report 5.0 MEASUREMENTS The attached drawings have the results of the radiation survey measurements on them. Sufficient readings were taken to establish the fields during the conditions when the tests were conducted. These are shown in two columns one an average or typical value and the maximum value recorded in the general area. Two tables are given, first on ladders and platforms. The second table for inside the tower/mast/mounting steelwork structure or inside the line of the legs. In some areas the readings are calculated from knowledge of the field and the measurements on similar parts of the antennas. These inferred values are enclosed in (parentheses). Anywhere where the peak reading of either the “E” or “H” field is between 1.0 mW/sq cm and 4.99 mW / sq cm, an easily identifiable area, hatched with and coloured yellow. NOTE: These areas may contain positions with areas below 2.0mW/sq cm but are intended to contain all areas which should be avoided. The maximum time allowed by ARPANSA standard in these areas is also shown on the drawings. Following exposure to these elevated levels the standard calls for “…a recovery period of not less than 40 minutes. This shall be spent in an area in which the field strength is substantially less than the maximum occupational levels.” The standard suggests 0.5mW/sq cm would satisfy this requirement. Anywhere where the peak reading of either the “E” or “H” field is above 5.0 mw/sq cm an easily identifiable area is defined, hatched and coloured red. NOTE these areas may contain positions with levels below 1.0mw/sq cm but are intended to contain all areas, which must be avoided. In some cases no readings were taken. A large part of the structure clearly presents no possibility of radiation hazards. Other areas the levels can be determined by the radiation from different configurations of antennas and can be deduced from other attached drawings. These areas are not marked. Other areas clearly present a Radiation Hazard and readings were not taken to minimise the risks to the survey team. Typically these areas are adjacent to >5mW areas. These areas are hatched and coloured but no readings are given. 8 ZCG SCALAR PO BOX 7, LINDENOW, VIC, 3865 \\Sync\zcg\19. EMR\Sample EMR Booklet.doc Insert Site Name Site Radiation Survey Report 6.0 GENERAL As well as the tower the transmitter room was also surveyed. Within the transmitter area with the transmitter running at full power into the antenna all areas were less than the minimum discernible reading on the meter. ALL LEVELS WERE BELOW <0.001 mW/cm2 6.1 A SUPPLEMENTARY Evaluation of RF site utilising the ACMA’s supplements 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. This evaluation utilises the charts and calculations of signal strengths from the data given by the ACMA. These figures over estimate the signal strength and if you require a more accurate survey a full-metered survey will be required. Not required as full survey conducted. 9 ZCG SCALAR PO BOX 7, LINDENOW, VIC, 3865 \\Sync\zcg\19. EMR\Sample EMR Booklet.doc Insert Site Name Site Radiation Survey Report 7.0 WORK PRACTICES 1) No work is to be carried out in front of radiating antennas. 2) General Public should not Enter Site under any Circumstances. 3) All GridPaks and Microwave Dishes should be assumed to be actively transmitting – NO work should be carried out in front unless connected equipment has been confirmed to be DISSCONECTED. 4) All Areas 3 - 6m below FM Antennas are Time Limited 5) Areas 0 -3m below and directly behind FM Antennas are NO GO zones 6) Before work is performed on site the EMR Folder should be read and signed. 10 ZCG SCALAR PO BOX 7, LINDENOW, VIC, 3865 \\Sync\zcg\19.
