Fecal
Test results should be used for herd health management; not as qualification for purchase, sale or vaccination. The ELISA and AGID test are presumptive and unofficial since these tests
quantitate the circulating antibodies to Mycobacterium avium ssp. paratuberculosis (MAP): not the disease per se. Late pregnancy and anergy due to advanced paratuberculosis may cause
depressed serological titers, for these reasons, please not e each animal's health condition when submitting samples. Fecal culturing remains the Gold Standard in Johne's testing. Since the
organisms are shed intermittently, a negative fecal result does not rule out the presence of the disease. Routine testing is hightly recommended.
