The NanoDrop Lite uses the same sample retention system that has become a hallmark of NanoDrop
instruments. Whilst it is designed with fewer features than the NanoDrop 2000 and NanoDrop 8000
series, the NanoDrop Lite delivers where it counts: rapid, accurate and reproducible microvolume
measurements without the need for dilutions.

NanoDrop® ND-2000 | ND-2000c
The patented sample retention system used by
the Thermo Scientific NanoDrop 2000 and
NanoDrop™ 2000c allows for the analysis of 0.5
µl - 2.0 µl samples, without the need for cuvettes
or capillaries.
With the arm open, a sample is pipetted directly
onto the pedestal.
After the arm is closed, a sample column is
formed.
The pedestal then moves to automatically adjust
for an optimal path length (0.05 mm - 1 mm).
When the measurement is complete, the surfaces
are simply wiped with a lint-free lab wipe before
going on to the next sample.
Cuvette Measurements
The NanoDrop 2000c model includes a built-in
cuvette capability. Most
common cuvettes and micro-cuvettes may be
used with this instrument
(8.5 mm z-height and 2 mm beam).

NanoDrop is an invaluable piece of equipment in the quality control evaluation of nucleic acids. The most robust
qPCR data are achieved from good quality template, and we use the NanoDrop routinely as part of the QC in our
workflow. Unlike other methods , the NanoDrop permits visualisation of the absorbance spectrum, which provides
invaluable information about contaminants in a sample, for example a shift in the peak from 260 nm indicates the
presence of substances other than nucleic acid. We also supply qPCR standards of known copy number
