Welcome NECIS Swim Teams:
It has been some years since we have hosted the NECIS Swim
Tournament and we are delighted to welcome you back to our
hometown. Stavanger sits on a peninsula surrounded by water. Our
long coastline and deep, narrow fjords are a constant reminder that
“Wet is Good!”
Water has long been an important transportation link in this
kingdom. From the Viking longboats crossing the Atlantic
establishing early settlements in Canada, to the “Fram” which
journeyed to the Arctic and Antarctica, to Thor Heyerdahlʼs famous
“Kon-Tiki” raft that sailed across the Pacific, the sea has always
beckoned us to take a chance and test the waters.
Today, the combination of exported hydro-electric power from our
harnessed waterfalls plus the oil and gas harvested from the North
Sea help to power much of Europe.
We hope you enjoy getting wet while you are here and that each
time you dive into the pool your efforts bring you both satisfaction
and potentially some medals to take home.
Many, many, many people—led by our Athletic Director, Mr. Jean
Pierre Duc—have worked hard to complete every detail to provide
an effectively run tournament for you. Our thanks go to all those
who made contributions to the planning and implementation of this
tournament.
Please let us know just how we can make your stay in Norway just
as enjoyable as possible. Thank you for coming and the best of luck
to each one of you.

Fresh water 26.5 degrees,
Electronic timing equipment.
Cafe, small pool 90cm deep and changing facilities.
Changing facilities
Lockers are available however
the swimmers will have to bring
a 10 nok coins to lock the locker.
