But as it emerges
from out of its cave
I won’t run away
and I’ll try to be brave.

The rain is falling on the ground.
It makes a lovely liquid sound.
A dripping splishing sploshing splashing.
In the wind, a luscious lashing.
When it drops, a peaceful plashing,
Cars are swooshing, people dashing,
Children stamping: puddle bashing.
Roofs are sheened and slates are flashing.
Slantwise lines of rain are slashing.
Sleek and shiny rain is smashing.

Feel the earth quake.

Can you hear the crash?

The phantom fans are chanting
There’s a cheer in my ear as I score
I’ve done it again: ten goals to me
And nil to the garage door!

So I shall stay inside my house
because it’s dry and warm.
I’ll stand beside the window
and watch the growing storm.

it’s a tune
There goes the bell
it’s half-past three
and down by the school gate
you will see……
Sometimes though
I wish the whisper
whisperings would
shut up soon
…….. ten mums talk talking
nine babies squawk squawking
eight toddlers all squabbling
seven grans on bikes wobbling

I like noise
Noises
The whoop of a boy, the thud of a hoof
The loudest noise I ever heard –
It was a train that puffed and grunted,
As along the track it shunted.
Roaring loudly on its way,
It must have had a lot to say.

The rattle of rain on a galvanised roof
The hubbub of traffic, the roar of a train
I LIKE
NOISE!
The scream of a siren, piercing the brain.
The switching of wires in an overhead tram
The rush of the wind, the door on the slam
Sa
The boom of the thunder, the crash of the waves
The din of a river that races and raves,
The crack of a rifle, the clank of a pail,
The strident tattoo of a swift slapping sail

The softest noise I ever heard –
It was a teeny, weeny mouse,
As he scampered to his house.
He sat so still behind the wall,
I hardly heard his noise at all.

“Into the bath now,
to shampoo your hair,
then out for a rub down
and a blow of hot air.”

It prickles my head
and tingles my ears,
It tickles my neck
as it zooms and it whirrs.
It whizzes and whooshes and buzzes at me.
It sounds more like a bad-tempered bee!

BANG! There goes another one,
Screaming as it goes.
It’s getting high,
Up in the sky,
And fizzle - there she blows!
Sa
WHOOSH! Up high above the house,
Behind a trail of sparks.
Yellow, orange,
Red and white,
Exploding in the dark!
