Eric J. Morrow Work Sample Project: Heritage Flight, VT Office:TruexCullins Date: 2007-2009 Gate Waiting Area Existing Ceiling Detail Airplane Maintenance Hanger Heritage Flight is a private charter jet service located at the south end of the Burlington International Airport runway. TruexCullins was tasked with renovating an existing 1948 US Army aviation hanger. The new program included public spaces, offices, aircraft maintenance space and a US Customs and Border Patrol processing office. The skin of the building was completely removed to facilitate major structural renovations and two areas of expansion. My role was to work closely with the project manager and consultants to develop the working drawings while maintaining the design intent. The photo of the existing ceiling became an important part of the team’s decision to expose that ceiling whenever possible. Coordination of the new mechanical and lighting elements became integral to the expression of the existing structure. The owner shared our interest in creating an environmentally responsible design, which includes a green roof, solar panels, storm water management and several day lighting strategies. The new building is expected to earn Leed Silver Certification. This project is currently under construction and will be completed in 2009. South West Corner Green Roof 4. 2. 6. 1. 3. 6. 5. 8. 8.
