1. Bantam Coaches
1.1.
Uniforms
All new BANTAM players are issued “BOARD authorized” uniforms kits.
The uniform kit includes a jersey, shorts and socks.
The cost of the uniform kit is included in the registration fee.
Uniform kits are distributed in the fall prior to the first game for new players only.
All Returning players will receive a new jersey each year before the first game in the fall.
PLAYERS ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR SHIN GUARDS AND CLEATS. (This is not included in the
registration fee)
If players need new shorts or socks they may purchase replacements from the YYSC office.
1.2.
Miscellaneous Equipment
New Bantam coaches are provided with the following equipment at the beginning of the season:

1 -Game Ball of appropriate size (3 or 4 depending on age)

Practice Pinnies (10 pinnies assorted colors)

16 cones

Ball pump


PRE-K DIVISION: Coaches will receive a AIRBAC backpack and size # 3 ball for each child. These are
to be distributed with uniforms at the MEET AND GREET.

1 GRADE DIVISION: Coaches will be given new size #4 ball for each player prior to the first game of
fall season.
NOTE: COACHES SHOULD NOT ALLOW NAMES TO BE PLACED ON THE BALLS. THEY ARE ALL
THE SAME.

Practices
All practice days will be approved by the BOARD.
PRE-KINDERGARTEN DIVISION:


Practice is held prior to the game on Saturday. Practice will be approximately 40 minutes. A 30
minute game or scrimmage will follow.

Games are Saturday mornings between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm.

First game: Fall Season -- weekend after Labor Day—8 week season

Age group coordinators will provide all coaches with game schedules via e-mail and the OFFICE
will post on the YYSC WEBSITE .( www.yorktownsoccer.org )

Age Group Coordinator
Each age group has a coordinator who performs the following activities:

Form team rosters. Place kids according to noted practice days, place kids in same schools
together, place older kids and younger kids together by grade.


Awards
Every player will receive an award each year they play. Awards given at the end of the spring season

Picture Day
The YYSC will schedule two divisions in fall and two in spring to take pictures.
We will announce division picture schedules in the fall of each year.
NOTE: This is not a fundraiser. The YYSC is not making money.
Wednesday Night Soccer
All YYSC members are invited to attend this event during the summer months at
The YYSC field on Veterans Road. The children play soccer or just hang out and the parents can
relax,work out and listen to the “live music” that the club provides. We have pizza nights, hot dog
nights, hero nights and we always have ice cream for everyone.
COME JOIN US AND HAVE FUN!!!!!! BRING MONEY TO BUY FOOD/DRINKS AND ICE CREAM

Advancement Options for U-8 Age Group
ND
Players in the 2 GRADE Bantam age group (U-8) have two options for continuing soccer within the
Yorktown Youth Soccer Club.
In-House Program:
 Program is Coed.
 Two divisions Under-11 and Over-11.
 One practice per week
 Game day is Sunday
 Games start between 9:00am and 4:00pm
 Games are played on Yorktown fields against other YYSC in-House teams
 Uniforms are included in registration fee, along with an AIRBAC backpack (if you received a
backpack in Bantam, a new bag is not provided)
 Includes a spring tournament
Travel Program:
 Requires attendance at 2 Try-Outs (May and/or June)
 Boys and Girls Teams
 MAXIMUM of two practices a week (1.5 TO 2 HRS EACH)
 Game day is Sunday (7 to 10 games per season) (half home/half away)
 Games start between 9:00 and 4:00pm
 May require travel up to 1.5 hours for away games
 Uniforms are provided by the club every two years and cost is included in registration fee along
with an AIRBAC backpack (if you received a backpack in Bantam, a new bag is not provided)
 MULTIPLE tournaments (minimum 3 tournaments required- 1 paid by club and the others funded
by team funds)
 Additional costs expected above registration fee for training, additional tournaments, team apparel
and parties.
1.8.
Game Cancellations
E-mail will be sent to all club members if there is a cancellation or field closure.
Message will be placed on website: www.yorktownsoccer.org and on office machine at 914-2148118 if fields are closed.

Rules

Note: Normally these fouls require a DIRECT FREE KICK to restart the game, however we do not
have direct kicks in PEE-WEE / BRONZE / SILVER. All these fouls will be restarted with INDIRECT
KICKS. An indirect free kick requires that a second player (who may be a member of either team)
must make contact with the ball before it enters the goal for the goal to be counted. Any foul
committed by defending team within its own penalty area will result is an indirect free kick from the
nearest point outside of the box. Anywhere else on the field: place ball at area where foul was
committed and have players retreat at least five yards on any restart. As with all restarts, the kicker
may not touch the ball after the kick until another player has touched it.

Each coach needs to complete a report card and ranking sheet. These reports/rankings will help
placement in our In-House league and help assist Travel evaluators during tryout process.
2ND GRADE DEVELOPMENTAL PROGRAM
This program is designed to help get players ready for the YYSC travel program. This program is by
invitation, however no player will be denied access to attend the practices in the summer to see if this
program fits their needs. Final decisions are made by the club evaluators.
1.12. Bantam Refund Policy
The registration fee, minus a $75 administrative fee will be refunded for requests made by September
1st. No refunds for requests made after the first game and there are no refunds due to inclement
weather.
1.13. What Bantam Coaches Need to Do

Register on www.yorktownsoccer.org as a coach, assistant coach,team parent, etc

Do the background check on www.ehysl.org under Risk Management (needs to be done
every two years)

Upload a picture or email picture into the office to be used for your coach’s card

Attend 2 coaches meetings a year (preseason) and Annual General Meeting

Assign a team parent to aid in communicating with the office and collect the needed
paperwork

Complete on-line concussion screening course


2. Travel Team Coaches
2.1.
Coach’s Packets
Will be handed out at the Labor Day Tournament and contain:
1. Guideline for Coaches
2. Referee assignor Age Group Coordinator information
3. Medical release forms
4. League forms and rules
5. Field assignor’s phone number
6. Check made out to coach to pay referees for the season
7. Player passes (if they are ready)
8. Inclement weather procedures
2.2.
Game Day Responsibilities
Assistant Referees/LINESMAN
Coaches must designate one assistant referee for the game when, and if, requested to do so by the
referee. NOTE: Our club usually assigns youth linesman to each game (according to availability)
Corner Flags
Coaches are responsible for providing corner flags for home games. These flags are provided to
each coach as part of their club supplied equipment. You can contact the VP of Fields for corner
flags.
Goals
Coaches are responsible to make sure both goals have been properly counter weighted with sand
bags, metal piping, tire weights, chain and anchors, etc (Some goals are weighted in the crossbar). If
the goals are not secured properly then the game must be delayed until they can be fixed or the
game will be forfeited.
Score Cards
When playing home games, coaches are responsible for submitting score cards. Score cards are
dropped off on Sunday at the YYSC office at 1928 Commerce St – drop in mail slot in back of
building.

Referee Fee Payment






Yorktown coaches will receive a check at the beginning of each season. That money is
to be used to pay the center referees at your home games (high school age teams will
also receive money to pay the assistant referees).
Yorktown home coaches pay the referee before each game
The fee schedule is in coach’s packet from the league.
Referee fees are paid pursuant to contract with the EHYSL.
Assistant Referees for U14 and below are not paid by the coaches. They will receive a
check from YYSC.
Any monies left over at the end of the season due to game cancellations will have to be
returned to the soccer office.
Equipment
2.3.
Travel Uniforms
Travel players are issued a BOARD APPROVED uniform kit with club colors and containing a club
logo. The club policy is to wear a green jersey/black /white primary jersey and a white jersey as the
alternate. Further, all players are required to purchase shin guards, cleats. The cost of uniforms is
included in the registration fee. New uniforms will be issued every two years.
Miscellaneous Equipment
New Travel coaches are provided with the following equipment at the beginning of the season:

1 Game Ball of appropriate size (4 or 5 depending on age)

Corner Flags – these flags may be used for practices, and are REQUIRED for any
home games. The corner flags are numbered and assigned to the coaches. If the flags
are lost, the coach is responsible to pay for the replacements.


Goalie jersey and gloves (may be purchased from club by the goal keepers) otherwise
use a pinnie


Adding or Removing Players
The club OFFICE will be responsible for adding or deleting players from the team roster for the
season. The commissioner must be notified by the coach if any player is being transferred to or from
their team. The Office and commissioner will evaluate this action based on established club policy.
The coach is further responsible for obtaining the required paperwork and/or fees for this change.
When removing players, the player pass must be returned to the YYSC office.
2.5.
Registration Procedures
Registration Materials
YYSC currently uses an on-line administration system that accepts CREDIT CARD payments.
All players must provide all registration materials to the Team Manager (which will then be given to
the office) before they can be registered for a team:

Player Eligibility
Any child trying out for more than one team must notify each coach at the tryouts of their intention to
do so. If this player is selected for more than one team, the parents and coaches involved will jointly
determine the final placement of the player.
2.6.
Non-Yorktown Tournaments
Permission to Travel Form
All teams traveling to tournaments outside of our state organization (Eastern New York) must comply
with State mandated regulations, which include submitting Permission to Travel Request.
Guest Player Release Forms
Certain tournaments allow the addition of guest players to a roster. This form requires the signature
of the coach of record (i.e., the player’s club coach), the borrowing coach’s signature, and a league
signoff. You are also required to borrow the guest player’s pass for the tournament. This process
applies to registered travel players. The Guest Player Release Form can be found on www.ehysl.org
under FORMS.
Tournament Player Passes
There is a fee of $25 charged to the player for those players who will only participate in
tournaments with a particular team.

Sanctioned Facilities
Yorktown teams can only attend tournaments at US Soccer sanctioned facilities. YYSC teams
should only attend tournaments approved by YYSC. Send request for approval to VP of
Administration.
2.7.
Labor Day Tournament
Tournament Registration
Each YYSC Team U14 and below is automatically entered into the tournament. Yorktown teams are
not required to pay the registration fee for our tournament , but they must register the team in the
system.
Kickoff Meeting
A tournament meeting is held for all coaches during June.
All coaches are required to attend this meeting or send a representative.
Coaches will be given PERTINENT INFO/ AD PACKETS
Tournament Ads
Each team must sell a minimum amount of ad space for the Tournament
NOTE: TEAM FUND RAISNG QUOTA WILL BE DETERMINED EACH YEAR BY THE CLUB
Tournament Jobs
Each team must supply volunteers for tournament jobs.
The jobs are established by the tournament committee.
Failure to perform tournament jobs will lead to withholding of team funds.
Tournament Funds
Tournament funds are made available to teams approximately two weeks after the tournament. .
All disbursed funds must MEET BOARD APPROVED policies which will be listed on website
In order to get reimbursed or have checks cut from your team account you need to fill out the
Reimbursement Form on www.yorktownsoccer.org under FORMS and send in all backup and
receipts.
Funds can be used to purchase equipment and spirit wear but must not exceed 30% of total team
funds.
2.8.
Referees
Referee Assignments
Referee Fees
League assigned referees are paid directly by the home coach on game day and are based on a
referee pay scale set forth by the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association. League referees are
assigned to U-12 division 1 and older. Younger teams are assigned by the club. These fees are
identified in the Games Operating Procedures. The fees funded to coaches in advance of the

season (i.e., fall or spring) at the appropriate coaches meeting. The fee schedule is established by
contract with the EHYSL.
2.9.
Trainers
Funding
Trainers are funded, in part or whole, through Team Funds. Trainers are reimbursed for their
services by submitting a Record of Training to the club office.
Authorized Trainers
In order to be reimbursed, trainers must be authorized by the club. A list of authorized trainers is
supplied to coaches at the beginning of the season. If a trainer is not authorized, but would like to be
considered for authorization by the club, they may contact the club office. REMEMBER THE
TRAINER WORKS FOR THE CLUB NOT THE COACH OF THE TEAM THEY ARE TRAINING.
2.10. Scrimmages/Friendly Games
Should a coach schedule a scrimmage or a friendly game during the season, the following
procedures must be adhered to:
 Use of a referee must be obtained through the club’s head referee. Use of a non-certified referee
is prohibited.
 Only players with a pass may participate. All passes must be exhibited prior to the
scrimmage/friendly game to the certified referee.
 All applicable rules regarding the use of guest players must also be followed.
 Use of a field must be prearranged with the club’s field coordinator.
 Notify your commissioner of the date, time and location of the scrimmage/friendly game.
2.11. Practices
Field Assignments
Field assignments are made through the club designated representative. This is typically the V. P. of
Fields In-season assignments are typically made during the respective season’s coaches’ meeting.
Sharing of Fields/Priority of Use
No team is entitled to a full outdoor field. Typically, each field can be used by THREE teams
concurrently. If a school field is in use by a school team, the club team must yield use of the field.
Travel teams may not practice more than 2 times per week. If Division 1 teams want a 3rd practice
they need to get permission first.
NO player may practice or play for a team without registering with YYSC on line first. NO player may
play a game without receiving a player card first.

2.12. Tryouts
Schedules
Schedules for tryouts are established by the Boys Travel Commissioner, Girls Travel Commissioner
and the President.
Tryouts are typically held during May / June
Tryouts for HS Divisions: The tryouts for these age groups are held at the discretion of the Travel
Commissioner but are held in time for registration in December prior to the spring season.
Tryouts are considered mandatory for all players.
Evaluation
Evaluations will be done by 3 independent evaluators.
Coaches are required to provide report cards prior to the start of the tryout
The appropriate commissioner and the President is responsible for assigning players to teams based
on evaluations
Notification of acceptance or denial should be sent to players by the OFFICE within two days from
the final tryout. The office must receive registration payment within 2 days of notification to ensure the
player’s spot on the team.
2.13. Annual General Meeting
Each team must be represented at the Annual General Meeting (AGM)
A quorum of team representatives is required at this meeting to transact business. The AGM is used
to, among other items, pass bylaws changes, provide a statement of the health of the club, and elect
board members. 30 people are needed to have a quorum.
EACH TRAVEL TEAM MUST BE REPRESENTED OR THEY WILL BE FINED $250.00
The YYSC will deduct the fine from the team’s tournament fund account. If there is no money in the
account the team will be forced to forfeit the remainder of their games until they pay the fine.

2.14 What Travel Coaches Need to Do

Register on www.yorktownsoccer.org as a coach, assistant coach, ,team parent, etc

Do the background check on www.ehysl.org under Risk Management (needs to be done
every two years)

Upload a picture or email a headshot into the office to be used for your coach’s card

Get a coach’s license within a year. YYSC will offer opportunities for you to take these
classes. If you already have a license we suggest that you upgrade your license.

HEAD coach from every travel team must attend the Grade 9 referee course offered by the
YYSC which will aid you in knowing the rules and the Laws of the Game

HEAD coach from every travel team must attend the East Hudson Coaches Convention in
March (place and time to be determined by East Hudson)

Attend 2 mandatory coaches meetings a year and Annual General Meeting in April
FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN LOSS OF COACHES PRIVILIGES.

Head coach must select two assistant coaches and a team manager to assist in the day to
day administration of the team.

Must complete CPR/AED certification


3. In-House Coaches
Uniforms
3.1.
All players are issued a BOARD APPROVED uniform kits containing a club logo and a BUSINESS
SPONSOR on the back of their uniform.
Uniform kits include JERSEY/SHORTS/SOCKS
The FULL uniform must be worn to every game
All players are required to purchase shin guards and cleats.
Shin guards and cleats must be worn to every game and practice
Shin guards must be worn under socks
No jewelry, including earrings, allowed. The only exception is for medical ID items.
The cost of uniforms is included in the registration fee.

Practices
All In-house teams will practice once per week up to 1.5 hours. Teams will be assigned a practice
field and time. This will be coordinated by the Field administrator in coordination with the appropriate
In-House Commissioner.
3.4.
Games

Games are Sunday mornings between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm.

Make-up games may either be on Saturdays or during the week depending on field availability

First game: Fall Season -- weekend after Labor Day— 7 to 8 week season

First game: Spring Season – 3 or 4 week of April— 7 to 8 week season

In House Commissioners will provide all coaches with game schedules via e-mail and the OFFICE

3.6.
Special Days/Awards/Trophies
Spring Tournament
Each division will participate in a Spring Tournament where all teams invited to enter will play teams
in their own respective division. No cross division play. Invitation to the Tournament will come from
the appropriate Commissioner and is dependent on EACH team securing the required number of
volunteers to assist before, during and after the tournament as needed including a “field prep day” the
day before the tournament. Included in this are concession stand donations to be sold during the
tournament. ANY team that does not comply with this policy will NOT be allowed to play in the
Tournament. Tournament is scheduled in June each season depending on field availability.
Winning teams are given trophies. All players participating in Tournament are also given special give
away items in recognition.
Picture Day
Typically during the Spring Tournament, Picture Day is the one time per year where team photos are
scheduled. There is no obligation to purchase any photos. NOTE: This is not a fundraiser. The
YYSC is not making money.

Games consist of two 25 minute halves.

“Carded” Coaches must coach from the sideline only.

No one allowed behind the goal

5 minute half time break.

Time runs continuously, except for injuries.

Each half starts with a kickoff. Kickoffs alternate between teams.

Substitutions are unlimited

Goal kicks are taken from the top of the goal box.(ball out of bounds over end line of offense)

Corner kicks are taken from the corner (ball out of bounds over end line of the defense)
U-11

8 v 8 – do not add players to the field

3.10. Refund Policy
The registration fee, minus $75 will be refunded for requests postmarked before the first
scheduled game of the season. No refunds will be made for requests made after the first
game of the season.

3.11. What In House Coaches Need to Do

Register on www.yorktownsoccer.org as a coach, assistant coach, team parent, etc

Do the background check on www.ehysl.org under Risk Management (needs to be done
every two years)

Upload a picture on registration or email headshot into the office to be used for your coach’s
card

Get a coach’s license within a year. YYSC will offer opportunities for you to take these
classes. If you already have a license we suggest that you upgrade your license.

One coach from every In House team must attend the Grade 9 referee course offered by the
YYSC which will aid you in knowing the rules and the Laws of the Game

Attend 2 coaches meetings a year (preseason)

Assign a team parent to aid in communicating with the office and collect the needed
paperwork

Must complete on line certification course on concussions.


5. Refund Policy
Bantam
If a child drops:

Travel

Once a travel player gets an acceptance to a travel team, they have 48 hours from email regarding
travel team to request a refund if they decide not to accept their spot on the team. Once the player
accepts then there are no refunds of registration fees.
Please note: Under no circumstances are late registration fees ever refunded.

6. Play Up Policy
The Yorktown Youth Soccer Club believes that it is generally preferable that children play within their
own age group. This is especially important in the younger years when the Club will implement a
comprehensive training program that is both age and developmentally appropriate. Also, the Club
believes it is highly desirable for players to interact with their social peers. Therefore, the criteria for
“playing up” are restrictive. The policy is designed more to maximize participation and support team
viability rather than individual interests. Refer to website for Play Up policy.
