The heat exchanger brackets are modified. Install
brackets with the upper bolts on the cylinder
head. The
MS brackets can be mounted in any of the two holes in the
heat exchanger bracket dependent on the angle of the en-
i_. gine.

the new fresh water inlet to the engine supplied

bolts. Removethe starter to ease installation.
PIug the by-pass on the thermostat housing (pointing
forward) using the threaded plus
suppiied. Enlarge the fresh water outlet from the thermostat housing to'fl tO mmusing a drilI.
Install
the new
thermostat siipplied

2.
R e m o v et h e o r i g i n a l s e a w a t e r p u m pa n d t h e h o s e t o t h e c o o l i n g
water inlet on the motor. Assemble the new 3/8" pump and 0ring using the old pumpsmounting bolts, and so that the pumps
dischargd outlet faces up and about 30 degrees to hte left.
Thread the 90 degree reducing hose eonnector, (part no. 8054)
i n t o t h e 3 / 8 " p u m pd i s c h a r g e . T h i s h o s e c o n n e c t o r s h o u l d f a c e
a f t p a r a l l e l t o t h e e n g i n e . U s e P e r m a t e xs e a l e n t o r t h r e a d
seaient tape Lo water proof this connection, (see picture on
the next page).
3.
A s s e m b l yo f t h e l t e a t e x c h a n g e r . P I a c e t h e h e a t e r c h a n g e r i n t o
t h e r o u n d e d h o l d e r b r a c k e t s . O p e nh o s e e l a m p s , ( P a r t n o .
4284), thread them through the square holes at the inside edge
of each holder braeket. Handtighten the elampsaround the heath e a t e x c h a n g e ra n d a d j u s t i t s o t h a t i t i s l e v e l . T i g h t e n b o t h
hose clamps and all the mounting bolts to both the holder brackets and the mounting brackets. Attach the ground cable for the
f r e s h w a t e r p u m pt o t h e n e a r e s t b o f t o n t h e e n g i n e . S e e p i e t u r e ) .

Sea l{ater System: Removethe hose between the thermostat housing and the exhaust elbow. Thread the hose conneetors, (part
no. t!18 and 1476), into-the .thermos_tathousing and the erhaust
e l b o w u s i n g P e r m a t e xs e a l e n t o f t h r e a d t a p e t o w a t e r p r o o f t h e s e
e o n n e c t i o n s . A s s e m b l et h e 9 0 d e g r e e p r e - f o r n e d h o s e , ( p a r t n o .
4 2 1 f ) b e t w e e nt h e 9 0 d e g r e e h o s e c o n n e c t i o n l o c a t e d a t t h e a f t e n d
of the heatexchanger. This connection faces fornard and is located
at approx. two o'clock when looking at the rear end of the heatexchanger. The top rear of the heatexchanger and the hose connection on the exhaust elbow. This is the sea water diseharge from
t h e h e a t e x c h a n g e r( s e e p i c t u r e 3 ) . A s s e m b l eh o s e 5 / 8 " x 5 0 0 m r n ,
( p a r t n o . 4 0 0 4 ) , b e t w e e n t h e d i s c h a r g e f r o m s e a w a t e r p u m pa n d t h e
heatexchangers lower 90 degree hose connection which is facing the
pump. This is the sea water connection into the heatexchanger,
(see picture).
5.
