Official Rosters
The first roster used and signed off on for the first game of the tournament will be your official
roster for the duration of the tournament. Teams are required to submit their roster and
Certificate of Insurance (COI) prior to April 9, 2014. Rosters and COI must be emailed to
[email protected]. Any submissions after the deadline will not be included in
the 2014 ACC Program. The deadline to make any changes to your roster prior to the
tournament is April 24, 2014 at 12:00pm.
Underage Players
There is no limit to the number of underage players that a team is permitted.
Overage Players
Overage players are not permitted in the Alberta Champions Cup. The PW and Bantam Female
Teams are permitted to each have 2 overage players on their roster.
Stats and Standings
Stats and standings can be found on the Alberta Champions Cup website throughout the
duration of the tournament. For the 2014 ACC we will be keeping player and goalie stats. Please
note the website lists all teams in their respective Age Category and does not take into
consideration Head to Head play or Rule 18. B- 7 Goal Maximum that the ACC uses for tie
breakers.
The Official Standings for each division, are what is listed at the arenas.
To confirm what time your team will be playing on Sunday, please check the Arena Standings
board. It is the Team Manager’s responsibility to ensure that they check the Arena Standings
board and not the website for their final placement and Sunday game times.
At the start of the tournament, each Manager is required to sign in at the tournament
registration desk located in the main lobby of the arena. At this time the manager will receive
their coach’s bag which includes 5-Co-Operators Group Player of the Game Certificates,
Tournament Program, and 20 player gifts. Player of the game awards will NOT be given out on
ice, and it is up to the coaching staff to hand them out in the dressing room after each game.
Games
Coaches are required to sign the game sheet prior to the game taking place. The game sheets
will be at the tournament registration table located in the main lobby of each arena. The game
sheets will be taken to the official’s room 15 minutes prior to game time. Coaches must circle
their starting goaltenders number and designate injured players with INJ next to their name
and SUS for suspended players (Ex. SUS- 1 of 2). Coaches are also required to designate who
their captain and assistants are on the game sheet.
Each game for all divisions is three-20 minute stop time periods. A flood will occur every second
period.
If a team is losing by a difference of six goals at the start or during the second period then
straight running time will apply and all penalties will be three minutes for a minor penalty,
seven minutes for a major penalty and 15 minutes for misconduct. These penalties start at the
drop of the puck. If the losing team gets within five goals, stop time will resume.
Warm Up
Each team will get a 5 minute warm-up. If your game is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. the warm up
clock will start at exactly 6:00 p.m. It is the coach’s responsibility to ensure that the team is
ready to go on at their scheduled time. No team is permitted to enter the ice prior to their
scheduled ice time.
The ACC does NOT supply pucks for warm up. It is the team’s responsibility to supply pucks for
warm up. *** Please note that home team is determined by the schedule, not the benches***
Overtime
All ties in round robin play will remain a tie. Overtime will occur for the Sunday playoff games
only. Overtime is a five minute stop time sudden death period with both teams playing at full
strength (penalties in regulation time will carry over into overtime). If the game is still tied, each
team will select 5 shooters and players will take one shot on an alternating basis between two
teams. The team with the most goals wins. If still tied, this process will repeat using any five
players selected by the coaches until a winner is declared. It is another full 5 person shootout,
not a sudden death shootout.
Jerseys
All Home teams must wear light colored jerseys. If the team does not have a light colored
jersey, the tournament committee must be notified one hour before the game time so that
other arrangements can be made. It is the Home teams‚ responsibility to make sure this is done.
If there is a delay in the starting of a game, the Home team will be assessed a two minute
penalty for delay of game. Please ensure that you coordinate this through the Arena
Coordinator.
Officials
The Alberta Champions Cup prides itself on hiring the most qualified and experienced officials
for each age category. Abuse of the officials will not be tolerated. The officials will be
instructed to hand out bench minors and or game misconducts for abuse.
Spectators who abuse the officials and or attempt to make contact with the officials while they
enter and or leave the playing area will be escorted out of the arena. Coaches and or managers
are not permitted to enter the official’s rooms to discuss the game and or calls made during the
game.
Any concerns and or issues that arise from the respective game must be brought to the
attention of the Arena Coordinator, NOT the officials.
Games will have 2 on ice officials, and 2 off ice officials working the time clock. Divisions 05 and
up will have a 3 man system for all Gold and Bronze finals.
Playing Rules
The Alberta Champions Cup follows the Hockey Canada playing Rules and Regulations otherwise
specified by the Tournament Committee.
Birth Certificates
Each team’s manager is required to have on file at all times, a copy of each player’s birth
certificate. Failure to provide this may result in expulsion from the tournament, at the
discretion of the tournament committee.
Suspensions
It is the coach and or managers responsibility to check with the arena coordinator to find out if a
suspension is issued as a result of an on ice penalty. Suspensions are assessed by the
tournament discipline committee on a case by case situation. Protests will not be heard.
Admission
There is no admission fee to attend the Alberta Champions Cup.
Coach and Manager Conduct
Any team officials under the influence of alcohol will not be permitted on the bench. Any action
unbecoming by a Team Coach, Manager or Parent will not be permitted back into any of the
ACC Arenas.
Emergency Action Plan (EAP) for Facility Emergencies
During the duration of the tournament, each teams Manager will be responsible for their team’s
individual emergency action plan. In case of a fire and or any other incident during the duration
of the tournament, the team must meet outside in the parking lot. The Manager for each team
will be responsible for tracking their players. The managers will stay with their teams, ensure all
parties are safe, and out of harm’s way. Each team will stay together in the spot that they meet
and wait for directives from emergency personnel.
EAP for On/Off Ice Injuries for players and team personnel
Equipment Locations:
For first aid treatment, teams will be required to contact the arenas Arena Coordinator. The
Arena Coordinator will assist as needed, and provide basic medical assistance as needed.
