POLICIES AND GUIDELINES
GENERAL
The event will be Smoke, Drug and Alcohol free.
The events will be conducted under the jurisdiction of GymSports New Zealand, whose competition rules,
National Championships Manual regulations and policy will apply in all instances not covered by these specific
guidelines.
The Competition Jury shall consist of the Chief Executive of GymSports New Zealand or his/her nominee,
the Event Manager and the gymsport respective Control Judge for the event.
ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRIES
All competitors who are enrolled full-time at school and are aged under 19 years on 1st January in the year
of competition are eligible to seek qualification for entry to the Championships, except for Aerobics where
the ages are taken as of 31st December in the year of competition.
If the total number of entries exceeds the maximum number that can be accommodated, GymSports New
Zealand reserves the right to restrict the number of entries that will be accepted.
Entries will be accepted from Secondary Schools. It is the responsibility of the Secondary School to ensure
that the competitors comply with the NZSSSC eligibility guidelines.
Entry details:
 Entries open on Friday 30th May 2014. All school sports coordinators will be emailed event registration
website and information 1 week prior to entries opening.
 Entries close on 12:00pm on Friday 30 June 2014.
 Registrations must be completed online. Please submit only one registration per school.
 The registration fee is $45 per athlete regardless of if it is an individual or a group entry. You can enter
into as many events as you like (eg; Aerobics, Aerobics Team, Rhythmic Gymnastics and Trampoline)
and pay just the one registration fee.
A team for Men’s Artistic Gymnastics and Women’s Artistic Gymnastics may consist of three or four students
from the same school who are competing in the same grade and are of the same sex. The best three scores
on each apparatus/routine will be totaled for the team score. A Performance Group may consist of no less
than six active participants. There are no composite school teams/groups.
A team for Trampoline is made up of 3 athlete. Please refer to Trampoline Secondary Schools Manual for a
full explanation of the method for teams in the trampoline competition.
In Rhythmic Gymnastics the group event consists of the required number of gymnasts from the same school.
There are no composite school teams.
In Aerobics, Hip Hop, Cheerleading and Team Performance the group and team categories consist of the
required number of athletes from the same school who are competing in the same grade. On application,
consideration will be given accepting entries from composite teams, provided that the principals of the
schools agree and the school accepts responsibility for the composite team. Composite teams will not be
accepted ahead of single school groups.
COMPETITION REQUIREMENTS
The competition technical requirements are included in the code specific manuals.

Venue and Equipment

The venue’s equipment will be used. The Control Judge has the authority to prohibit competition on any
piece of equipment (apparatus and landing matting) that he/she considers is not suitable in the interests of
the athlete’s safety and competition environment.

judges appointed by the Control Judge. All judges will be current qualified judges for the specific gymsport.
In the interests of the athletes and judges each level/grade shall be timetabled for a maximum of three

up to ensure it does not create a safety hazard. Competition numbers are not required to be worn unless
provided by the organisers.
Please find the details on uniforms under the Summary of Sport Requirements.

The minimum number of coaches required to be on the competition floor is one per code. The GymSports
New Zealand requirement that ‘coaches must be accredited at the required competency level’ is not required
for this event.

athlete’s medical certificate to GymSports NZ. No other refunds will be given for other costs/fees related
with entering the event.
Please submit medical certificates and Requests for Withdrawals forms by Monday 11th August 2014 at the
