Event Tips for Exhibitors & Concessionaires
Our guests look to us for exceptional service when visiting our site, and we ensure to deliver. We strive to provide a
pleasant experience to enjoy quality products at a great value. Our guests are greeted with “Welcome to Farmfair”, and
as they leave, we invite them to return to our Exhibition in the future.
Guests and clients are the lifeblood of our business and they deserve our personal attention. Our success depends on
you and your attention to friendly, courteous and helpful service. Remember, YOU ARE part of the show and Farmfair is
reflected in you!
Exhibition Tips for Exhibitors & Concessionaires
• When hiring staff, advise the employee of the importance to provide excellent customer service to all guests
attending Farmfair.
• If available, use a training video to give a visual impression of what good customer service portrays.
• This may be the first job for some employees; patience is a virtue. They are learning new skills that will be used in
future.
• Show appreciation at all times. Our employees are important to our business and a little appreciation goes a long
way.
• Ask your employees what they consider is good customer service and what they find is important to them as a
customer. If they know how to recognize good service they will provide it accordingly.
• Provide incentives or recognition programs to employees who have done a great job. They may end up traveling with
you or may become long term employees.
• Have a uniform/ dress code and name badges. This helps guests recognize your employees and a chance to thank
them by name.
• Let your staff be themselves and have a good time while working. When they are having fun, guests are having fun.
• Empower your employees to do what it takes for your customers to have a good time and experience.
• Provide the employees with a list of duties to follow to ensure tasks are remembered and proper procedures are
followed.
• Step back and view your booth as a customer. Walk around your booth and observe what the customers see when
they approach. What do you see? Are unsightly items in plain view, does signage attract attention, is there anything
that requires maintenance or improvement?
• Remember, a happy customer is a returning customer!

Event Tips for Exhibitors & Concessionaires Employees
• Always maintain a neat and tidy appearance; this includes yourself and your uniform/clothing.
• If applicable, always wear your nametag.
• When greeting a customer, smile and make direct eye contact; not only is this welcoming to a customer, it may make
their day!
• Have an upbeat attitude when you come to work. You are part of a significant event in Edmonton and should be
proud that you are part of our guests’ experience.
• Smile again! Always greet guests with a sincere smile; a simple act goes a long way.
• Begin your conversation with a “Hello”, “How can I help you?” or “What delight catches your eye?”
• Know what is going on at Farmfair. Our guests may ask what is happening on site and you can tell them of your
favorite hotspot. You are part of the show and have 10 days to be a tour guide. Compete with your fellow employees
and see if they can find something you did on grounds.
• If a customer has a question and you can’t answer, tell them that you’re not sure but I’ll ask my supervisor. Always
find a way to help your customer.
• Customers always come first! Don’t be distracted by friends, family or co-workers.
• Use a friendly and polite tone. A person’s tone is important and can change the meaning of a simple word.
• Laugh and have fun with the customer.
• If time permits, engage the customer with a conversation. Ask how their day was or what their favorite Farmfair
attraction was.
• Be observant. Notice if a customer is having a problem or seems confused. Ask if they need assistance or help.
• Never complain or talk negatively about personal problems or issues in front of or within earshot of customers. They
are here to have a good time and you’re part of their experience.
• Always thank the customer for coming and provide a friendly goodbye such as “Thanks for coming”, “Come back next
year” or “Don’t forget to come back, I’ll be here for the remainder of Farmfair.”
• Make sure that your customer leaves your booth or concession happy and pleased.
