Rider conduct
Riders are responsible for obeying the rules of the road and riding in a considerate fashion appropriate for a
sportive event. Also riders must not endanger other riders, road users, pedestrians, or officials. Due to the
nature of a sportive many of the roads used are country lanes and the organisers request riders to extend

ramblers, runners, dog-walkers, horses and their riders, other cyclists and farm vehicles. Riders are required to
ride according to the Highway Code at all times.

Toilets
There are adequate toilets at the Event HQ. The public toilets by the Folly Fields, Marazion will be open from
5.30am.
Urinating in public is in violation of the law and the organisation strongly disapproves of this.
Event Timing
Please fit the timing transponder to the front forks of
your bike as shown in the diagram. The unit should be
pointing down to the ground and fitted to the non
lever side as shown. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR
WHEEL IS SECURELY FASTENED
Fitting your number
Please attach the rider number supplied to you at
registration using the cable ties provided as shown in
the diagram. If you have a computer or GPS device
that is mounted in front of your handlebars please
secure the number on the head tube. Please ask for
more cable ties if required.
Emergencies
Please ensure you have this number 07964111351 or 07766441332 so that you can contact the event HQ if
needed. Please note, we will make every effort to pick you up if you are unable to complete the event.
However, we will prioritise this according to individual requirements. If it is a medical emergency please call
999.
Advice on climbs
We advise gearing of 34T x 27T or equivalent to help successfully tackle the steepest climbs on the route.
Descending
This can be the most dangerous part of your ride. We strongly advise that you take extreme caution when
descending and avoid gathering speed. Many descents will end up where you will need to negotiate a blind or
sharp bend. You will also be descending into small coastal fishing villages/towns such as Coverack and
Mousehole. These are tourist attractions and there will be unsuspecting pedestrians crossing roads and
probably not paying attention.
Road conditions
Due to the nature of the event and the route options you will be riding on narrow lanes that are not heavily used
by motor vehicle traffic. On these lanes there can be a build-up of debris in the middle of the road. Please be
careful and avoid riding in this area.
Litter
Please do not drop any litter – bins are provided at HQ and all feed-stations
Helmets
Please note we will require you to ride wearing an appropriate cycling helmet

Motor Bike Marshal
There will be Peninsula Escort Group (PEG) Motor Bike marshals
and paramedics on the route at all times. They will be checking
the bike route and supporting the riders. The PEG will also be
providing paramedic support.
First Aid
First aid will be available at the event HQ, however, if you or another rider has a medical emergency please call
999.
What to bring
It is the rider’s responsibility to provide all food and drink and mechanical spares and tools that you may require
on route. We recommend that you bring a multi tool, two spare tubes, tyre levers, a working pump and
adequate hydration and food. You are strongly advised to bring a mobile phone and a small amount of cash in
case of emergencies, enabling you to keep in touch with event organisers. In your registration pack you will find
a ride guide that will fit in your jersey pocket that you should keep with you for the duration of the ride, it
contains key event emergency numbers
Navigation
It is likely that the route arrows put out by the organisers will be tampered with somewhere on the route. It is
therefore vital that you carry an independent means by which to navigate the route. We will provide you with a
very simple route card at registration to help support you. Please take maps, GPS or print and carry the map
page(s) from this manual. Please do not rely totally on all arrows being in place.
Change of route from 2013
1. The long route will not cycle into Mullion. Instead you will head towards the Lizard.
2. The long route will turn up towards Trewennack and back into Helston for the first feed station. You
will then join with original route.
Other Information:
Please note due to a review of the course in 2013 we cut out the large roundabout on the A30 which is on
the Penzance bypass. The route will go through Gulval as before but then over a footbridge to Longrock.
Riders are advised to walk over the footbridge.
Competitors Under 18
All competitors under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. All competitors under the age of 18
must have submitted a parental consent form prior to the event.
Route Signage
The routes are signed with specific YELLOW and BLACK event signs for all routes.
