“The Challenge of Cross-Border Information Governance In A Big Data World “
In a world where data volume is doubling every two years, the need for smarter ways to approach information governance across
the corporate enterprise is only increasing in importance. Lawyers in the U.S. who practice e-discovery using the latest types of predictive
analytics are increasingly turning their attention to applying these tools and techniques in the information governance space, including
with respect to data remediation, auto classification, conducting investigations, and aiding in business intelligence.
How do these sophisticated techniques work for companies based in the US, Europe and Asia, with a global presence?
And can an optimal information governance program based on the US experience be carried over successfully in the EU,
given the greater emphasis on privacy protections?

E-Disclosure/Discovery and Data Analytics
in Action
Camera Ballistics - The New Era Of Digital
Photography Verification
Technology Assisted Review - A Primer on the
Law and Technology
Johan will talk about the “marriage” between analytics
and discovery/ disclosure/ investigations. He will talk
about lessons learned and observation based on
applying the basic principles of analytics to discovery
or investigations. Starting at the very beginning of any
project what is required for analytics and what is
required for investigations. During the presentation
Johan will cover topics like basic querying, predictive
analytics, social network analytics. The presentation is
aimed at the discovery professional, discovery/
disclosure lawyers as well as forensic specialist.
Ballistic fingerprinting is an absolutely essential method
in the world of forensics. Now the same will be possible
in digital photography – How to prove that a photo was
taken by a particular camera.
It is clear that mobile devices are very important sources
of evidence. This presentation will provide you with
complete information about the current state of cellphone security and the possibilities for data extraction.
Technology Assisted Review is new on the legal scene but
promises to reduce review costs not only for outbound
productions but also for early case assessment, privilege
protection and deposition preparation. This program
provides a primer on the law and technology of TAR with
special emphasis on Continuous Active Learning (CAL), which
is the hallmark of the next generation of TAR products. We
will also focus on adapting TAR for cross-border matters and
multi-language documents. And, we will investigate the
dramatic savings TAR brings over traditional linear review and
how to measure them.

Electronic Evidence Challenges in Academia and
in Practice
The panel will focus on how different experts working in
practice and theory should be educated on electronic
evidence. Taking a holistic approach, the panel will start
with the question how the theory on electronic evidence
should be incorporated into the curriculum of law
schools. Next, we will discuss to what extent prosecutors,
judges and other practitioners should be acquainted with
different aspects of electronic evidence, we will also look
at the educational effect of conferences such as LTEC.
Finally, the panel will offer some thoughts on whether
digital forensic experts need any education about law
and rules of evidence.

Experiences From The Training of Law
Enforcement Professionals and Lawyers (30 mins)
EU - Data Collection/Protection
Deloitte Demo Session
Let this panel of seasoned litigation support veterans
take you through the current hot topics and issues
within litigation support.
Continuous education in the digital forensics arena is a must
for all stakeholders. As ICT technology is developing very fast
and as cross border cooperation becomes inevitable, both
digital forensics professionals and lawyers simply need to
keep up with technology and global trends. After 10 years of
experience in digital forensics education, INsig2 experts have
a very good overview of challanges in organising and
delivering efficient professional educational sessions. In this
session, we will share our experiences, challenges, the
knowledge our students acquired and also some anecdotes
from the training sessions.
Explore the different jurisdictional issues across the EU
(both UK and mainland Europe) and how they contrast
with the US. Practical hints and tips to deal with the issues.

When to Hold and When to Fold – Setting
Case Strategy Based on the Facts?
Financial Services – Secret Value of Client’s
Voice and Data
Entering into litigation without knowing the key facts
and risk exposure of the case is like playing blind. The
volume of data involved in many cases makes gaining
insights into their merits very difficult. Our panel will
discuss approaches that make it possible to deliver
early access to intelligence and the essential facts of a
case, thereby turning the cards over early.
Nowadays almost every bank or insurance company use the
voice recording, data capturing and/or network forensic
technologies as a support for their sales channels. Every time
you are contacted by your bank or insurance company, you
hear that the call is recorded. Some institutions already
realized that similar technology could be used to detect or
even prevent frauds. In this session Daniel Bican will
demonstrate this on several real case examples from his
investigative practising. Radim Polčák will cover the key legal
aspects of using such technologies associated with data
seizure and corporate electronic discovery including
jurisdictional issues, privacy protection or property rights.

the Czech Republic. Judge Dory Reiling from
Amsterdam will tell of her plans to run several courts
fully electronically by 2015. Judge Simon Brown and

Techniques and Tools for Data Collection and
Searching
Extracting data from mobile devices has come a long
way from the early days in which it required highly
skilled people utilizing very sophisticated machinery
and tools. Law enforcement professionals, around the
world, knows that already and extends the use of tools
and techniques beyond the forensics high-tech lab.
Where it comes to the private sector, the growing
awareness of importance and criticality of mobile ESI is
bringing the mobile devices up-to-par with computers
and servers as source for data to be discovered. This
demo session will provide a glimpse of the current
techniques and tools for data collection and searching
from mobile devices and how it may fit into the bigger
data analysis or collecting that are part of any modern
investigation or discovery respectively.

Mobile Devices and Mobile ESI – Myths and
Realities
Cybercrime As a Real Threat With a Real
Impact (20 mins)
It’s a well-known fact that mobile devices carry a lot of
information, some of which can be critical to a case.
However, it seems there are many misconceptions
about the processes required to obtain this data, how
complex or simple it may be and what factors might
play a role. This session will highlight some inherent
challenges in collecting data from mobile devices,
and their review plus key considerations in addressing
the mobile ESI within a litigation process.
Cyber crime is directly related to the development of
information and communication technology and has become
an everyday reality. Cyber security and cyber crime are areas
that are more connected than it seems at first glance. Putting
high quality cyber security in all areas is an essential
prerequisite for successfully tracking down the perpetrators of
security incidents. To protect information systems from the
perspective of cyber security means to be resilient against the
perpetrators of cyber crime, reduce the impact and reduce
the damage. This resilience also provides a greater chance of
capturing those offenders.

Are You Prepared For Cyber Warfare? – How Do
You Recognize Your Weaknesses? (20 mins)
Will your ISMS help you in case of an attack? The
presentation will focus on methods that can help an
organization to prepare for an efficient response to an
attack – how to identify, what is important for the
organization’s information system, how to carry out a
useful risk analysis and how to build an efficient
protection of the system. We will also discuss the role of
security architecture in building the organization’s
cyber defenses.
Presenter: Eva Rackova
Czech Cybercrime Law (20 mins)
The new cybersecurity law No. 181/2014 Coll. have been
published recently in the Czech Republic and the other
technical regulations on cyber security are in their final
stages right now. We are mainly going to discuss the public
notice on organization and technical controls which is based
on ISO/IEC 2700 standards in the presentation. A main point
will be to talk on reasonable approaches how to follow
regulations in practice.

Using Lean Six Sigma Within a Law Firm
Nuix Demo Session
Some cyber security incidents may look like they would
cause no further harm but can result in a real crisis for a
company after a few hours. Are you sure that you are
monitoring the right doors? Has your Cyber security team
got a reliable defence strategy? Are you really prepared for
crisis and recovery of key business services? Are the main
objectives of your organization in line with your defence
strategy? The usual answer is that we need to protect
important company assets. We clearly know how but
usually we don’t know exactly what those assets are. This
presentation will show you an example of how you can
use risk analysis results and organization context to define
your organization's strategy for cyber attacks defence.
