Training Opportunities for School Staff 2014/15 Developing every child’s speech, language and communication skills Supporting speech, language and communication skills in mainstream settings Early identification of speech, language and communication needs Delivering effective targeted support in small groups Practical strategies and ideas The Speech and Language Therapy Service offers a range of training opportunities for school staff throughout the year. All of our training courses are mapped onto the Speech, Language and Communication Framework (SLCF), which identifies levels of competency for the entire children’s workforce in relation to speech, language and communication. Our training courses develop competences at a universal and enhanced level. We offer a range of opportunities including half day sessions, full day Language for Learning training, workshops to support small group targeted interventions and the yearlong Every Child a Talker programme which offers a whole setting approach and support for early years. A workshop that explains the different stages of breakdown that can cause speech difficulties, and shares practical activities and strategies to help children overcome speech difficulties.
