EuMW MICROAPPS - Free to Attend - Stand 105 The EuMW MicroApps program features practical application presentations describing novel products and processes of interest to the microwave community. Event highlights include a popular keynote presentation by Prof. Steve Cripps, a special session on waveguide measurements, and an EDA vendor panel on space and E-band communication applications. MicroApps attendees will receive a free CD of the presentations and a commemorative water bottle. The program is sponsored by Horizon House, NI/AWR and Rohde & Schwarz. Recent interest in using push-pull techniques to implement broadband RF power amplifiers at GHz frequencies has resulted in further rounds of research papers and patents. The vast majority of work on microwave baluns stems from a seminal article by Mr. Marchand, dating from the late 1940s. This talk will review the Marchand balun and its evolution into modern microwave system implementations. This can be used both for components working over a band wider than one octave, such as low-pass filters and for devices based on either higher-order modes or multimodal waveguides, such as rotary joints, OMTs, and horns.
